Principal's Corner
Welcome to the second quarter! It is hard to believe a whole quarter of school has passed already.
Each day I walk through the halls of Maple, I am so impressed and amazed at the growth of our students. Every day, I marvel at the incredible devotion of our staff and their unique ability to teach and inspire our children. Every day, I am thankful for the amazing support of our parents and the Hoopeston community.
I believe that the success of our school is built on a foundation of respect and inclusiveness. Every day, dedicated teachers and staff nourish a culture of love and caring, all focused on the goal of providing a safe learning environment for our students and families. Maple staff is committed to the growth of our students.
I am thankful that the Maple staff continues to strive for excellence in each and every classroom, to grow stronger by our uniqueness, and to pursue a loving and positive school culture.
During this time of Thanksgiving, I want to share my gratitude and thank you for being such an important part of our children’s lives. This is a wonderful time of the year to get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives. On behalf of the Maple staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy holiday.
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Suzi Root

Maple Designation and School Improvement Plan
With that being said, Maple is on year one of a three year school improvement plan to assist us in continuing to grow our building, staff and students. Some of the highlights of the school improvement plan include SMART goals related to:
- growth in reading levels
- growth in math assessments
- growth in ELA for our special education students
- increase in student attendance rate and a decrease in student tardies
- growth in social emotional skills
Each SMART goal has multiple action items to address the goals. Maple will share data as it become available to track.
Parents and guardians can do their part by getting their students to school on time every day. The Maple staff appreciates your partnership in this endeavor.
