Fifth Grade PACE
FEED YOUR BRAIN
STARTING OFF ON A GOOD NOTE!
Our adventure together this year is taking off. The fifth graders got a chance to test their survival skills and work as a team to come up with a survival plan. Their teamwork skills will come in handy when our LAW unit begins. Students also got a chance to think outside of the box and choose one item to be stranded with in the wilderness for our main bulletin board. If you're ever in our hallway, take a peek at what the students said they'd bring along. Finally we got a chance to take on a STEM challenge and create an environmentally friendly soda can holder. Teamwork, effort, and ingenuity were key when coming up with their new creation. With so much hard work and creativity in these back to school activities, I can't wait to see what this year holds for us. Here's to learning lots and having fun along the way!
Craft Craze
Designing an item to have in the wilderness is creative, messy, and fun!
Mighty Mustangs
A group of students anyone would be proud to teach!
Brainstorming Time
Listening and sharing were two important concepts during the planning time. Every group had to come up with a design and game plan just by looking at the materials.
Hocus Focus
With a plan in hand, it was time to build.
Perfect Plan
Sometimes the perfect plan isn't so perfect...and that's ok! Adding, modifying, and adapting were all needed when finalizing the end result!
Compromise
Give a little...take a little. Creating one master plan is a tough challenge especially with four great ideas!
Team Bonding
Friendships were formed with this challenge!
All for One
Four brains are sometimes better than one. Everyone took part in creating the holder. Even a name was given to each one!
No Easy Task
Figuring out what to use for the base, sides, and handle was a tough challenge. One thing is for certain- our soda carriers wouldn't be harmful to any animals!
Final products for our harmless holders!
