Learning Spotlight

Coach Inwood and Coach Knowles' sixth grade PE students had the chance to participate in the "Lamar Winter Olympics" this past week. Students experienced opportunity for global connections by researching and choosing a "home" country to represent. They learned about sportsmanship and the value of doing your best researching the Olympics and participating in Olympic events, while focusing on the Olympic Creed - "The important thing in life is not the triumph, but the fight; the essential thing is not to have won, but to have fought well." Students had torch relays, learned about and competed in curling, and participated in awards ceremonies. They were excited and engaged with the novelty of the experience and the opportunity for team competition. Their enthusiasm for the learning was contagious!
