Coyote Communications

September 28, 2022

Hello Coyote Families,

We have quite a few updates and highlights for you in this edition of Coyote Communications. Please take some time to read information about the upcoming implementation of buses, zone exemption transportation requests, and more.

Thank you for supporting your student and our school community. We have 3 weeks left of Quarter 1. Now is the time for our students to ensure they have all assignments turned in, redo assignments that have low grades and be in solid communication with teachers. Please encourage your students to be active on Canvas when they are absent. They can send direct messages to their teachers through Canvas.

Reflecting Greatness at MLMS

Alli Susel, Principal

Bus Transportation NEW for October 3rd

MLMS will have bussing for all students beginning on Monday, October 3rd. We will have full bus coverage for a period of three weeks, while we wait to hear what the next phase will look like. New bus route information will be posted on Parent Connect, beginning this Friday at 5pm. Please take a moment to verify the bus number and the location of your student's bus stop. We have taken time this week to remind students about behavior expectations when riding the bus--we would appreciate any help you can offer in reinforcing these expectations at home. I think we all appreciate our drivers more than ever, so let's make sure they feel respected every day.

Lastly, you will notice that our traffic patterns at MLMS will return to our traditional flow. This means that all parents visiting the school should use the main parking lot, across from the main entrance and flag poles. It is important that only busses use our rear bus loop during this period. Please continue to drive cautiously when on campus to ensure student safety.

Zone Exemption Bus Requests—Special Note

ASD Transportation completes, processes and approves ALL requests for Zone Exemption ridership. MLMS does not approve or deny requests. Transportation has not approved busses for any zone exempt students this year. If you previously were approved, that does not carry over year to year. Transportation is taking applications for ridership for our Zone Exemption students and will monitor number of riders to make future approval decisions. If you have questions, please call transportation at 907.742.1200.

What do Wrestling Shoes and Microwaves have in common?

I am not sure…except that our school is looking for donations of both items!

Wrestling season is right around the corner and we would appreciate having extra pairs for our wrestlers could checkout for the season. All sizes needed and appreciated!

With 600 students, our lunchroom microwaves get a TON of use! We like to have 6 available for students and we are down to 4 due to the high amount of usage. If you have an extra microwave at home that you do not use or see one in good condition that you can donate, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Community Board—Advertise local classes and Opportunities

We have a community board so that students can look for activities or events that happen in our community. If your organization has a flier or an upcoming event, please drop it off at the main office and we will post it on the board for you. Students can then bring the flier or information home for parent consideration as these are not school sponsored events.
