HUGE Thank you!
November 25, 2019
Dear Carolyn Adee & Maple Dale Elementary School,
Thank you for having a food drive for NEEDS. You’ve helped us restock our shelves so that we can serve our clients through the holiday season. It’s heart-warming to have your students involved in community service at such a young age. Many thanks to the families and faculty members who contributed. And a special thanks to you, Carolyn for coordinating the event and to Jimmy for delivering it to our pantry. That is a huge help for us!! ☺
As a reminder, NEEDS (NorthEast Emergency Services) is based at Kenwood Baptist Church and we serve about 800 families each year in northeast Hamilton County with emergency food, school supplies and financial assistance. We depend on donations from caring groups like yours to keep our pantry well-stocked. The NEEDS volunteers and the families we serve thank you! We hope to partner with you again next year.
Sincerely,
NEEDS Pantry Coordinators
Janie McCormick and Maureen Flanagan

All Pro Dad + OGB are teaming up again!
Operation Give Back (OGB) Family Service Volunteering Opportunity – make cookies and/or arrange cookies to help OGB help our community – sign up here! Additional details below.
You are invited to the Maple Dale Elementary All Pro Dads breakfast on Wednesday December 18th from 8-9am in the school cafeteria. This free monthly breakfast is sponsored by fathers, the PTO, and local businesses.
When most people wake up in the morning, they first think of one thing: themselves. Where’s my breakfast? Mom didn’t lay out my clothes. These thoughts can lead to conflict in your family, at school, at work, and in the world. How would the world be different if we thought less about ourselves and more about serving others?
If attending please RSVP by noon on Monday December 16th via the link below so the correct amount of food is ordered.

Reminders- please do not walk your child to their classroom, please park down at the district offices to free parking spaces for staff members, and please be aware that a school delay or closure cancels the breakfast.
Please consider making a donation to support an upcoming meeting. Checks can be made out to “Maple Dale PTO” with “All Pro Dads” in the memo line and given to Greg or Doug.
Family Service Session Volunteers
Holiday Store Family Service Session
We are very excited to offer two opportunities for families to serve together as we prepare for the Holiday Store on December 13 & 14. One of our favorite traditions is to offer a plate of yummy holiday cookies to each of our shopping families, and we need lots of help to make this happen!
First, we invite you and your family to bake Christmas cookies to be delivered to OGB on Wednesday, December 11. All sweets are welcome...sprinkles! snowmen! chocolate dipped pretzels! Make your favorites and please share a plate with us.
As another option, we invite you and your family to join us as we package the cookie treats for our families. We will have the containers and cookies, but we'll need a lot of help to carefully box them up!
We hope that you and your family will be able to be a part of our Holiday Store preparations...Happy Holidays to all!!
After School Enrichment Program
Turn Markers Into Energy!
Dear Parents,
We are excited to tell you about a very special program at our school in
conjunction with Crayola. It’s called Crayola ColorCycle – an amazing program
devised to repurpose used markers rather than sending them to landfills!
The ColorCycle program has re-purposed more than 70 tons of expended
markers in the United States and Canada since 2013, and uses the most
advanced plastic conversion technologies available today to make wax
compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles as well as to generate electricity that
can be used to heat homes, cook food, and power vehicles.
All around Maple Dale, students and teachers will be collecting used markers
that are ready to be discarded. Please help support our efforts by sending your
kids in with any used markers you may have around the house- even non-
Crayola brands! Highlighters and dry erase markers can also be included. Drop-
off boxes will be located around the school for your child to deposit the markers.
Thank you in advance for participating! With the help of parents like you across
the country, the Crayola ColorCycle program can continue to keep tons of plastic
out of landfills each year.
Remember, don’t throw out that used marker—ColorCycle it!
Sincerely,
The Maple Dale Green Team
Recycling Rangers!
Can you find one thing in your child's lunch box that could be changed to something more recycle/reusable friendly? Can you find a reusable container to put their sandwich in? Can you get a cardboard juice box instead of the Capri Sun like package that can't be recycled? What about a cloth napkin that stays in the lunch bag for the week? Could you have your child be in charge of reminding you at the grocery to check these items out?
