Walk With A Friend....For A Friend

Join AK Stout, Deb Evans and Gene Gurkoff in New York City!

Walk for Your Favorite Charity

We all have a friend or family member who has experienced a serious illness. Most times we feel helpless and wish we could do more to make our loved one feel better. There are a wide range of charitable organizations that accept our contributions. But today there is a FREE fitness app, Charity Miles, that lets charities cash in while you walk, run or bike. Charity Miles is self funding the initial $1 million covering the app’s first users. Founder, Gene Gurkoff hopes to gain as many athletes on the platform as possible, to entice future corporate sponsors. By sponsoring users’ runs and rides, the corporations have a unique way to connect with consumers.

Walk For a Friend ... With a Friend ... Meet New Friends

AK Stout (Towson, MD) and Deb Evans (Houston, TX) are sponsors of the popular weekly Social Geek Radio Show. They introduced the Charity Miles app in a recent "Geek It Out" segment. After downloading themselves they quickly became addicted. They found the app became a motivator to walk a little further which increases the contribution to their charities. The every day walk with the dogs now has a greater purpose and commitment.

AK and Deb are now "super fans" of Charity Miles and decided to meet in New York City to coordinate an event. Their goal is to meet Gene Gurkoff, IRL (in real life) and to walk as many miles as possible on behalf of their friends, loved ones and their charities. Their friend Roz Shafer (pictured above) inspired this event.

We will start at Tasti D-Lite Times Square and finish at Tasti D-Lite at Columbus Circle.

We have plotted our route to include some historical sites and photo opportunities. It is approximately 6.5 miles but you can detour at any time.
