Where did you go after school?
Help us raise $75,000 for our signature after-school program
After All, doesn't every kid deserve a great place to go?
At 3:30 each day, Marc and Benzino count on the chance to participate in their favorite activities like music, chess, and sports, to name a few. If Harlem Link's After All program didn't exist, their parents would be left with no options. Every child should look forward to the end of the school day the same way...with anticipation and excitement. Children should also have a safe, caring environment to be once the school day ends.
We need your help to meet the $75,000 match challenge from our generous donor. In June 2015, The Morris and Alma Schapiro Fund made a life-changing gift of $75,000 to Harlem Link Charter School. Currently the program serves 150 youngsters, up from 75 just a year ago. The generosity of the Morris & Alma Schapiro fund has allowed us to provide some great experiences for our kids but it isn't nearly enough, that's why we need your help. The fund has challenged us to match their $75,000 gift.
A strategic decision to provide a powerful resource
Did you know that 3-6 p.m. are three of the most crucial hours in the school day? It's a time when children of working parents can make poor choices and experiment in risky behaviors like drug abuse or gang violence. That's one reason among many why our board of trustees set offering After All programming to all of our students as a strategic organizational goal by 2019. We are turning that risky time into an opportunity for our families.
The gift from The Schapiro Fund is one important step along the way, and your support is needed to help cement this gift. After-school programming keeps children safe, provides enrichment activities that help children perform better in school, and encourages them to progress socially and emotionally. We need your support; each dollar you give activates another dollar of this generous $75,000 gift.
