What a great day it was at Rockcreek! There were many celebrations occurring around the building. The second graders were dressed in their finest for the Cinderella Ball as others were celebrating with fun activities in the classroom.

The first part of ISTEP is just around the corner. Please see the link below for information from the state as we prepare for ISTEP. The ISTEP Experience allows student, teachers, and parents an opportunity to see the format for ISTEP. Teachers are continuing to focus on student need and growth.

February 25th - Math Bowl

February 29 - ISTEP window opens for grades 3-8

March 7 - Kindergarten registration begins

March 14 - 18 - SPRING BREAK

March 24 - IN SCHOOL - Snow Make-up Day #2

March 25 - IN SCHOOL - Snow Make-up Day #1


Grades 3-6 will be testing for ISTEP and/or IREAD (only 3rd grade) on the following dates. Please try and schedule doctor appointments around these dates. It is very important that your student is here!

Bulldog Boosters

We have exciting events scheduled for February and March. The annual restaurant fundraiser is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23rd. Please bring the attached flyer and join us at Texas Roadhouse. All money raised through this event will help support events at Rockcreek.

The annual family skating party is scheduled for Thursday, March 24th. Please join us for a great family night.

Assistance for lunch can mean other other assistance as well!

If your family meets the income qualifications for free or reduced lunch, and even if your child brings his or her lunch to school, there are several benefits that may be available for your family. It is that time of year again! Yearbook order forms have been sent home with students or you may order online. To order online visit www.inter-state.com/yearbook and enter code: 04567K. All orders are due by March 11th.

Universal Design for Learning - Representation

Last week, we looked at options for representing language, mathematical expressions, and symbols by comparing UDL to the back of a cake mix box. This week, we look at options for comprehension or understanding.

Digging for answers This Smithsonian website activates and supplies background knowledge of interesting topics in a game like setting.

3-D Geometry Highlighting patterns and critical features in geometry helps students understand big ideas and concepts.

Read with Me Another digital reading site, but this one offers adults a glimpse at how to guide information processing with young readers.

Quizlet As the name indicates, this site offers thousands of ways to practice transfer and generalization of information. From flashcards to word games, “study sets” can be created for all manner of vocabulary in several languages as well as math facts.

Kindergarten Roundup

Kindergarten Round Up begins March 7th. Please plan to join us on March 7th 6-7 pm for an opportunity to visit classrooms and meet the teachers. You may also enroll your child during office hours 9am - 2pm each day at Rockcreek after March 7th. We are excited to meet you!

If you have a child you feel would benefit for early Kindergarten enrollment you can view the application materials online beginning Feb. 1st. The deadline to turn in applications for early Kindergarten enrollment is April 1st. This is only for students younger than 5 by August 1st.

Immunization Requirements for Grades K-6

Parent / Teacher Conferences

Parent / Teacher Conferences will take place February 15th-26th. Teachers will be using the same schedule for siblings that was used first semester. Teachers will be notifying you soon of your conference date and time. This is an important time for teachers, students, and parents to discuss current growth and next steps to finish the school year successfully.
