NATIVE CLUB
Native Club meets every Tuesday at 3 pm on Google Meets. Students can access the club on their Seesaw or Canvas classroom pages, following the Indian Education Logo.

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
Did you know?
Behavioral health disorders affect a significant number of America’s school-age children. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 13% to 20% of children living in the United States experience a mental disorder in a given year (CDC, 2013).
Suicide is the second leading cause of death in adolescents (Banspach et al., 2016).
The (CDC) 2015 Youth Risk Behavior Survey found that 17.7% of high-school students had seriously considered attempting suicide in the past twelve months; 14.6% had made plans to do so; and 8.6% had made one or more attempts to do so (Kahn et al., 2016).
By providing supportive environments and teaching kids and teens to recognize their emotions and address them in health ways, we can change lives.
One way to deal with uncomfortable or unpleasant emotions is to remember the word PATH.
PAUSE: do not act on feelings right away.
ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT YOU ARE FEELING: are you mad at someone, or are you sad because your feelings were hurt by what they did? Whatever you are feeling, it is ok to feel that way.
THINK: think about how you can make yourself feel better after you understand your feelings.
HELP: take an action to help yourself based upon what you came up with in the “Think” step.

5TH GRADE RECOGNITION
We will be having a 5th Grade Recognition for Students at 12:30 on June 16th and 17th. Due to covid rules we are not allowed to have parents and guests on campus. But, it will be filmed and shared with families.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Enrolling your child in school early allows our district to anticipate needs and staff appropriately.
Children who will be 5-years-old on or before September 10, 2021 are eligible to register for free, full-day kindergarten with SKPS. Learn more about how to complete online registration on our district website.
To complete registration, you will need an updated record of your child’s immunizations, proof of residence and your proof of age with you to register.
We welcome all students, regardless of nationality or place of birth. To learn more about kindergarten registration, how to prepare your child for school and Salem-Keizer Public Schools, please visit our district website for more information and to register.
PRE REGISTRATION - GRADES 1 -5
All students need to pre register for the 2021-2022 school year.
