Lincoln Middle School -- Weekend Update
Hello Lincoln Families,
We hope this message finds you all well! As we progress into the school year with various clubs, activities, and athletics in full swing, these updates will ensure you stay well-informed about the latest developments at Lincoln. While we anticipate transitioning to bi-weekly newsletters in the near future, the early weeks of the school year are particularly eventful. As a result, you can expect to receive these weekly updates to keep you in the loop.
We kindly ask that you take a moment to read the information provided below to stay up-to-date with Lincoln's happenings. Additionally, we would like to extend an invitation to mark your calendars for September 18th at 6:00 p.m. On this date, we will be hosting a meet and greet event with the Lincoln Administrative Team in the LRC (Learning Resource Center) just before the PTO meeting. This presents a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with more parents and families in our community. The event will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and you are welcome to drop by at your convenience during this time. We look forward to the chance to meet and interact with you, strengthening our partnership for a successful school year.

Badminton Club | Fall 2023
If you enjoy playing Badminton in P.E. class, join us after school and participate in the badminton club. The Badminton Club is intended for students wishing to participate in recreational games against their Lincoln Middle School peers.
· There is no need for a school sports physical.
· Racquets and equipment will be provided.
· Games will follow a similar format to the one we used in our physical
education badminton unit.
· Limit of 24 participants.
Signup spots are limited, so act quickly if you are interested. Dates for the club are listed below; all dates meet from 2:50 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. in the West Gym. All signup and registration is done online and through the office.

District and Community News
Raising Resilient Children
In partnership with District 23, District 57 invites you to attend this exciting parent program! Dr. Doug Bolton - renowned psychologist, educator, and author - will discuss strategies for supporting your child's attachments, emotional regulations, and stress response. REPEAT INFORMATION
Open LRC Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Afternoons
Students who wish to stay after school and work in the LRC are allowed to do so.
The expectations for students while in the LRC are listed below.
- Students are expected to arrive by 2:55 pm and sign in. The LRC closes at 3:45.
- The expectation is the environment is conducive to collaborative work. This does not mean the library is silent, but respectful and welcoming for all students.
- The use of headphones is encouraged for anything that can be disruptive to others.
- Cell phone use is allowed with permission.
- Students arriving after 3:00 pm need a pass from a teacher.
- If any student leaves early, they are expected to sign out and leave the building through the front office.
An Important Message from Prospect High School
Prospect High School has a strict policy for pre-high school-age students at football games to minimize behavioral issues with unsupervised kids at games. Please adhere to the following:
- Pre-high school-age students will only be admitted with their parents/guardians. Groups and drop-offs are NOT allowed. Pre-purchased online tickets will NOT be honored nor refunds granted for individuals not meeting this criteria.
- Pre-high school-age students must sit with their parent/guardian.
- Parental/guardian notification will occur if pre-high school-age students are unsupervised and/or creating behavioral issues.

Dance Clinics: Wednesday, September 27, and Thursday, September 28 from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Dance Team Tryouts will be held on Friday, September 29 - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
All clinics and tryouts will take place in the Busse Gym. **Must have a current physical on file with the school nurse, Mrs. Smith, to attend the clinics and tryouts.** *Physicals are good for 13 months from the date given.
