Callahan's Corner

5th Edition

CUDOS to DeeDee and Dawn for getting all of the materials ready to help with the cafeteria incentive! (great video!). We know there are still some small kinks to work out, but some classes have made amazing changes in behavior to earn some Humphrey time!

CUDOS to all of those who worked the carnival! I've heard nothing but positive comments about how smoothly things went. Thanks, Mari, for being there so I could be at my daughter's wedding events throughout the weekend(some photos from Saturday).

Teachers: be sure you have sent the REFLECTIONS information to your families. I was told by a PTA mom today that her child's teacher still hadn't sent it out. Please get this done so we have some good entries this year! Encourage your students to participate.

Also, from the superintendent, please copy and paste the following into your newsletters on MONDAY:

NBISD is holding a bond election on Nov. 3, 2015. The bond package totaling $62.8 million will provide two (2) new elementary schools for growth and address facility, safety and compliance needs of the district’s existing facilities. Early voting will be held Oct. 19-30. For more information on the bond and voting information, visit and click on BOND 2015.

ANYONE who reports to subfinder: Please be sure you leave instructions for your duties as part of your sub plans. It is critical that they be at their duty location in the morning as well as finish dismissal in the afternoon.

Make sure you have downloaded your completion certificates from the Texas Training website if you have done the TELPAS training. You will lose credit if you have not downloaded and will have to retrain (6 hrs).

SUMS will begin on Wednesday, October 14th, per the schedule sent out earlier today. Please be prepared with your students' data. I will have a pile of the yellow WatchDog info sheets at SUMS. Please think about students you think would benefit from extra attention and we will complete these as we go during the meetings.

CLE Cares

Please remember Brenda Dunn and her family in your prayers. Her father is under Hospice Care and she was told today 24 hours. She has traveled to Carlsbad to be with her family.

Many of us have friends and loved ones suffering from various illnesses. Tina brought up a great idea for wearing PINK on Wednesdays and calling it Wednesday Warriors day. While pink tends to be the Breast Cancer support color, I think we can make it just be the day we think about and show support for all of those we care about who are battling illness or difficult times. So here's to wearing PINK every Wednesday... and IF the Wednesday Warrior day falls on an ODD date on the calendar, you can wear your PINK shirt with JEANS!!!

LOTS of upcoming events!!!

Monday is Vision/Hearing Screening and Thursday is Picture Day! Please be sure to check the schedules for your times.

3rd Grade dictionaries will be delivered by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas on Tuesday at 1:50pm.

FIRE DRILL Wednesday at 10:00am

October 16th: Last day of the first 9 weeks!! Wow!! Grades will be due by 8:00am on Monday, October 19th. Report cards will be ready on October 21st if you would like to knock out a couple of your conferences early!

The following week is Digital Citizenship Week (Oct 19 - 23). Please look at the activities you were sent by Michelle and Kimo. If you choose not to use these, be sure to plan something on your own.
