MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
24th Edition: March 10, 2017
Pilgrims on the Way of Truth
This coming week also launches many first games of the Spring season - both Home and Away. We wish our athletes well as they launch their seasons and can't wait to start sharing those moments with our school community!
News & Announcements:
During the past month and a half, Guidance has met with all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors to determine their course selections for the next year. At that time, each student received a print-out which showed the courses for which they are tentatively registered to take. If you have not seen the course selection paper, please ask your student to share their copy with you. Otherwise, a copy will be mailed out in the next week.
If the student wanted to enroll in an AP class, but had not made the $95 payment (required for each AP class) their print-out would not reflect that choice; rather, another arbitrary course selection would be in its place. (For example, if the student wanted to take English AP Lit, but had not paid the $95 for this course, the "default" course would be English 4.) In this case, as soon as the fee is paid, the class will change to reflect enrollment in that AP class. Please know that the sooner the AP fee is paid, the better the chance that your student will secure a spot in that class. If the AP course fee is not paid by April 4th, which is also the course change deadline without charge, then to enroll in the AP course would require both the $95 AP fee as well as the $30 course change fee.
Attention Seniors - Consider DONATING your Marian Sweater on March 23rd!
As you know, we have changed the uniform "seasons" this year - and Sweater Season will officially end after our last Quarter 3 exam on March 23rd. We understand the rejoicing in this that takes place...but please consider donating any sweaters that are in good condition back to the school. We will have collection boxes on both levels of the building for this purpose. Your donated uniforms go to help students in the future - and as long as the sweaters hold out, we will continue this wonderful tradition of helping future students. Families, as the sweaters process through the "done" laundry piles, please consider placing them in a bag and sending them to Marian!
Congratulations Seniors! You've Earned April 28th Off!
Our Jeep Raffle ticket sales contest boosted ticket sales to almost 9,000 tickets sold during the contest! Proceeds of this sale fund our Marian financial aide program and we are so grateful for every penny generated from this event. As the contest promised, Seniors will now have April 28th off school completely! All Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will have the 1/2 day as planned. Stay tuned for more Prom information (ticket sales, special celebration events leading up, court voting, etc.) in a future Friday Focus coming soon! Thank you to all students for enthusiastically participating in this worthwhile sales drive!
