Back to School is around the corner!

Greetings Emery Community,

We hope you had an enjoyable summer break and are excited to start the new school year!

The first day of school for our students is Thursday, August 19, 2021.

As we prepare to welcome staff and students back for in-person instruction, we want to share a couple of important updates with you.

The Alameda County Public Health Department (ACPHD) and the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) released the Alameda County 2021-2022 School Guidance. These recommendations guide the district’s health and safety protocols for the upcoming school year. This guidance aligns with recommendations from the State of California Public Health Department. EUSD schools will follow all local and state recommendations, which include the following:

Welcome our new staff

Middle School Principal - Anthony Rodgers

"It is my pleasure and honor to introduce myself as principal of Anna Yates Middle School. I am extremely excited to rejoin the Emery community. I look forward to meeting you, reconnecting with some of you, and building an awesome colleagueship of comradery and collaboration."

Fiscal Services Specialist - Wendy Chew

"Dear EUSD community: My name is Wendy. Just wanted to say 'hi' and introduce myself a little. I'm returning after 8 years to support the District's business office as the Fiscal Services Specialist. Previously, I was the administrative program assistant to the two directors overseeing the ECCL project, both the design and programming aspects. I'm returning after a stint cooking in some of the Bay's restaurants. I still can't really cook, but I would love to know what your favorite foods are! I'll do my best to support EUSD's community as we ease back into the school year. Hope to get to know you all soon!"

Director of Special Education and Student Services - Krista Alexander

"Ms. Alexander is an equity-focused educator with a strong commitment to social justice. She has an extensive background in providing special education services as a psychologist, mental health therapist, and teacher throughout the East Bay. Ms. Alexander's most recent experience was as a program administrator in the student services division in San Francisco Unified. Ms. Alexander is excited about building relationships and strengthening programs to ensure equitable access for all students in Emery Unified, and to continue building on district initiatives in this area."

Let's make this a wonderful school year!
