- Innovation Tool
KCS has developed a new innovation tool to allow all stakeholders to share an idea (new or could be an improvement on a current practice). Sometimes a great idea comes to mind and when we collaborate on it, it gets even better. This tool can assist us in "giving legs" to those great thoughts. If you are like me, these are the ideas that keep you awake at night, but sometimes feel impossible. Lose sleep no longer! Your idea can be submitted and it can help our district constantly grow and develop.
The KCS new Innovation Tool is up and running. KCS wants your ideas! This tool is active for use. It can be accessed here.TO ALL FAMILIES of 8th GRADERS GOING TO DC: The Parents Meeting for the Washington DC Trip has been changed to Monday, April 24 at 5:30 pm in the Auditorium. This meeting is not mandatory but will give parents a chance to find out any information or ask questions that they may currently not know. The previous date for this meeting was May 1.
- SUPPORT THE JSMS ORCHESTRA! The JSMS Orchestra Boosters have helped with purchasing music, repair of instruments, more concert attire as we have grown in numbers, guest section clinicians, transportation to events, and as scholarships for instrument rental fees. This carwash fundraiser will extend through the summer months and the code can be used multiple times and at multiple locations. We encourage that the flyer be kept in the car so when the time comes for a car wash it is handy. CODE: 4569 (See Below)

Professional Development Opportunity - Innovative Solutions to Classroom Behaviors
A new cohort is being developed to explore the research-based practices for social-emotional learning, to prepare teachers to align philosophical beliefs and actions to improve student behavior, and to support and develop the whole child. The cohort will meet 7 times over the course of the 2017-2018 school year. A variety of resources will be used to plan and implement these peer-facilitated sessions. Online components may complement the face-to-face training. The cohort approach allows adult learners opportunities for academic learning, emotional support, and perspective broadening. Attend the information session on Thursday, May 4, 3:45 p.m. at D-B EXCEL. Click here for more information or to register. If questions, please contact Stephanie Potter, spotter@k12k.com or x-5193.

- The following message is from last week’s wonderful WOW recipient Debbie Hash:
A multitude of thanks to Nancy Weaver for my nomination and accolades for the WOW award.
Sevier is blessed with such a camaraderie of wonderful folks, choosing the next recipient is a hard task.
I choose a consistently positive and pleasant person, who always wears a smile as she has the enviable ability to greet almost every student by name as they pass through the cafeteria line. During the 17 years that she has worked at Sevier, she has been an encouraging and dedicated supporter of the student’s extra-curricular activities, attending concerts, programs and all sports events. This delightful addition to their “fan base”, leaves no wonder that she is a favorite of the kids. I also appreciate the exemplary service that she and her fellow SNS workers provide for us that makes such a significant contribution to any successful school day. Angela McCoy is, in my acrostic, a Wonderfully Outstanding Warrior!!
- TESTING IS OVER!!! Yay!!!!! There are so many people to thank! Leila Hubbard, our Building Test Coordinator and our counseling staff have spent HOURS working on the tedious testing schedule, working to provide make-up test for students who were tardy or absent for testing, bubbling demographic information for our students, making sure all testing sheets were clean and ready, checking materials in and out, keeping all materials secure, and more! We also thank all of our proctors and our teachers for all of your flexibility and patience during testing! Our students also deserve a BIG thanks for doing their best and persevering through two weeks of testing! Thank you also to our families for making sure your children were at school with a good night's rest and breakfast!
- Congratulations to our Varsity Warrior Baseball team for a major upset over RNR in our tournament this week! Go Warriors!
