Thoughts from Toni and Friends
Believe...Growth Mindset for Student Success!
Our School Vision
Knight Vision: To share in the commitment of rigorous and high quality instruction to meet the needs of every child.
Our 2017-2018 school theme “Believe...Growth Mindset for Student Success!” is directly aligned with our continued vision and instructional expectations for Knight: to share in the commitment of rigorous and high quality instruction to meet the needs of every child.
Instructional Focus:
*Implement the AKS (Common Mini-Lessons and Assessments)
*Implement Authentic Literacy (Purposeful Reading, Writing, and Discussion)
*Implement Effective Instruction (Workshop Model/Gradual Release)
Knight Mission: To provide a positive, stimulating, and secure environment that empowers the individual to grow socially, emotionally and intellectually in order to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.
Knight Belief: We believe all kids can learn…
…and we will establish high standards of learning that we expect all students to achieve. It is our job to create an environment in our classrooms that engages students in academic work that results in a high level of achievement. We are confident that with our support and help, students can master challenging curricula, and we expect them to do so. We are prepared to work collaboratively with colleagues, students and parents to achieve this shared educational purpose (DuFour, 1997a).
Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Thank you for teaching our students each day! Thank you for connecting and engaging with our school community each day! Thank you for having a Growth Mindset to ensure success for our students each day! We appreciate you! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

PBIS Thoughts
Happy Monday!
This week, we're digging through our PBIS monthly data. You'll have access to a Google Slide document that shows the number of referrals in each area. You'll also see a grade level break down, and a break down by type of referral.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1EEwuGh4foNNxTtrCroxdg2iRtx73AyuqU_IF8Z45BPs/edit?usp=sharing
Please take note of two things:
-How many referrals your grade level has given out during the month of January
-The number of referrals is up from last month
While we know that referrals are a consequence for repeated poor choices, think about what you can do in the classroom to stop these behaviors before they get to the referral stage. If you need help, please speak to a PBIS representative.
