Safety Drills
The safety and well-being of our students and staff is a priority at Clive Learning Academy. Our goal is for all students to achieve high academic standards within a safe learning environment. We believe it is important to conduct safety drills, which are essential to implementing our Emergency Crisis Management Plan.
The drills we practice include tornado, fire, lockdown and bus safety. The procedures related to the drills are practiced by our teachers and staff prior to conducting drills with students.
Your child may come home and talk about the drill activities, which include:
Tornado: Moving to the assigned tornado shelter in their area
Fire: Evacuating the building using the routes posted in their classroom
Lockdown: Moving to the corner of their classroom away from windows and doorways
Bus Safety: These are conducted by the transportation department at K-8 schools in September and April and cover safety around school buses and bus evacuation.
It is regrettable that we must plan and practice for such possible occurrences, but in light of serious tragedies at other schools across the nation, we feel that such drills are essential for the safety of our children. Working together we can ensure that the educational process is allowed to continue in the safe environments that our children deserve.

Last Chance to Register for "Challenge of the Books"
Calling all fourth, fifth and sixth graders who love reading!!! Want to take part in a friendly trivia competition against other elementary schools in our district? Join Challenge of the Books!
Being a part of Challenge of the Books means your student would choose to read books from the 'challenge book list' on their own. Your student would meet with other CLA readers to discuss the books at school, during the lunch hour - approximately one time per month from October through April. At the end of the season, our team will take part in the final competition at the district level. COTB is essentially a book club that tests your knowledge at the end! This activity is led by parent volunteers. Questions? Email clivepto@gmail.com. Ready to sign your student up? Do so here: https://forms.gle/y38dmKbWKXSuwB62A.
Submit Photos for the Yearbook!
As your child participates in special events during the school year, please consider snapping a photo and sharing it! (We'd love to see your Homecoming Dress Up Day photos, for example.) Pictures can be emailed to clivepto@gmail.com to be considered for use in the yearbook.
