A Note from Mrs. Goldsworthy
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers after my accident. Breaking my leg in four places was surprisingly easy, but recovery will be a different story. I may be out for a few more days, and recovery itself will be months in the making. I want to thank the Zorn family, who happened to be nearby after my accident. They were so helpful in calming me and helping rescue me from the location where I fell in the Wichitas. Having friendly faces that I know during a stressful time was a blessing! My surgery on Wednesday went well (I now have a lot MORE hardware in my leg and foot than I did previously), and I was able to go home on Thursday afternoon. I felt blessed to have my surgery done by long time family friend Dr. Bentley Edmonds. My leg is very painful, and I am not one who likes to sit at home, so please keep me in your prayers to strengthen the virtues of forbearance and fortitude within myself! The CSSE staff will be arranging a meal train to help ease the meal prep burden for Chris and my mother, and it will go out in the next week. Meanwhile, there is not much I need except those prayers!
Since I am out of commission and updates are still to come from the Oklahoma Tax Commission, we will be postponing all our currently scheduled parent meetings regarding the OK Parental Choice Tax Credit. They will be rescheduled so I can be present. This will be a real boon to qualifying families who choose a Catholic education, but it’s also a learning process for all this first year! Look for more info in upcoming weeks on how we can assist you. Please note the application process now begins in December instead of November. Further information can also be found on the Oklahoma Tax Commission website by following this link: https://oklahoma.gov/tax/helpcenter/income-tax.html

We are proud to announce that CSSE first grade teacher, Mary Kate Tener, is a top 3 finalist for 2023 Catholic School Educator of the Year! This distinction is awarded by the Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma.
Miss Tener has taught at the Catholic School of St. Eugene for 11 years, and is a cornerstone of our early childhood and elementary program. A product of Archdiocesan Catholic Schools (St. James the Greater and Mount St. Mary), Miss Tener continues the tradition of excellence in Catholic education. Her commitment as a mentor to fellow teachers and daily portrayal of her Catholic identity has not only cultivated disciples through her students, but also encouraged fellow teachers to have a deeper relationship with Jesus. She is a wonderful choice for this honor!
We are also thrilled that the Catholic Foundation has named Early Childhood aide, Imelda Aleman as finalist for Catholic School Support Staff Member of the Year!
Mrs. Aleman joined the St. Eugene staff in 2011, and has been an ideal example of educational support! She is empathetic and hardworking with a passion for helping children. Her Catholic faith is seen daily in the way she communicates in the classroom and how she interacts with our students. She is a knowledgeable resource and helpful when planning religious lessons and activities and is the lead Kindergarten teacher for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
Please join us in celebrating Miss Tener's and Mrs. Aleman’s well-deserved nominations and place as finalists! Good luck to two of St. Eugene's best!
Best wishes go out to MS team member Elizabeth Brown, now Skiles! She and her husband were wed over Fall Break, and Elizabeth made a radiant bride!
Congrats to #cssealumni Brock Gowens and Ryan Hughes for their impressive performances at their first Drama & Debate tournament of the year. Brock earned 1st place for Humorous Interpretation and Ryan earned 3rd place in Poetry!
