Pride Productions Update
May 11, 2020
News & Thank you!
I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and well!
In this newsletter, I am sharing a few critical updates regarding plans for the end of the school year. Although not everything is finalized, I wanted to share the information I do have. Thank you, as always, for your patience as we continue to navigate all of these new scenarios. :)
ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
Before diving into new Theatre Department details, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few words of appreciation.
- Thank you to all of the students who have contributed to our classes amid the difficulties of distance learning. (Thank you to all of the family members offering their support, as well.)
- Thank you to everyone who has been using their artistry for the betterment of their family or the community during this difficult time.
- Thank you to all those who sent Teacher Appreciation wishes via email or the HHS school video!

Still on for this School Year!
June 7: Theatre Banquet (Virtual)
Although there will definitely be modifications for this year's end-of-the-year Theatre Banquet, please know that we do plan to hold one.
This year the banquet will be:
- Virtual
- Free
The Theatre Banquet is always open to all students in classes, clubs, and productions.
Not every aspect that was traditionally a part of our banquet will be feasible in an online format, and more details will follow about how we plan to handle this.
SENIORS: You will receive an email very soon requesting immediate needs, like images for a photo slideshow/video and to ask you to submit your roles for ITS points. Once you receive the email, please submit materials as quickly as possible.
Voting on Theatre Leadership Council
If you are interested in applying for one of the following offices, please send an email to angela.ramacci@lcps.org. The email must include your full name, role you are interested in and an explanation of why you would be the best fit for this role. Remember: You must be enrolled in 2020-2021 Theatre classes to be eligible for one of these roles.
Email Submissions are due by FRIDAY, MAY 15

- President (Rising Seniors)
- Vice President (Rising Juniors)
- Secretary (Rising Sophomores)

More information about voting (for select roles) will follow, once applications have been received.
Cappies Applications for 20-21
Although the NCA Cappies were cancelled for this year, the organization does plan to reopen for next school year.
Since training is typically in August, I need interested Cappies team applicants to submit a production critique by May 30 at 2pm. Submissions should be sent to angela.ramacci@lcps.org. Reviews of shows from this school year may be submitted.
Please remember:
- New and Past Critics must apply every year.
- Applications are open for Rising sophomores-Rising seniors.
- Cappies Critics are ambassadors for the school and the Department
- Cappies Critics must have enough time in their schedule to attend five shows in MD, DC or VA during a school year and submit a critique on time.
Postponements
ITS Point Tabulation (Freshman-Juniors)
For students who are currently in the Freshman - Junior class, we will be waiting until the fall to tabulate ITS points. All points from the 2019-2020 school year will transfer over to the 2020-2021 school year.
SENIORS: Remember that you will still have to tabulate points for the 19-20 school year, once you receive your email.
20-21 Season Announcement
Senior Brick Painting
Cancellations
After careful consideration and a great deal of discussion, we have decided on the following cancellations.
The entire Artistic Staff and Administration of HHS has elected to permanently close Pippin. In an effort to honor our senior class, we do not intend to pursue mounting this production during the 20-21 season.
There will not be any end-of-the-year showcases for this school year.
We have made the difficult decision to cancel our Rising Star summer program this year, in an effort to ensure the continued safety and health of our community. Families who have signed up their children will receive an email regarding refunds very soon.
While we know that learning about cancellations is always challenging, we hope that you will understand that these are difficult, but necessary, steps that prioritize health and wellness during these uncertain times.
Closing Thoughts
I know that this is still a challenging time for all of us. Remember that your Theatre family is here to support you and encourage you to stay positive, creative, and strong!
Keep finding new ways to share your artistry with others and be confident that Pride Productions is here for you.
Don't forget:
- to submit your Leadership applications by Friday, May 15
- to submit your Cappies Critic review by May 30
- and to mark you calendars for our June 7 Banquet! (Time is still to be determined.)
Thanks & Be Well,
Ms. Ramacci
