Rent Assistance

Good Morning All,

Please share with your community members in need of support: The Oregon eviction protections are set to expire at the end of June. This means renters will need to pay back rent that's still due. The state will start taking applications today 5/18/21, for additional rental assistance through the Oregon Emergency Rent Assistance Program. People are eligible if at least one person in the household had a financial impact from the pandemic (a lost job, decrease in income), and their household income is at or below 80% of the area's median income (about $77,000 for a family of 4 in the Portland metro, or $51,000 in rural communities).

Tenants can be approved for up to 12 months of past-due rent, and three months' upcoming rent. The payments will go directly to landlords, property owners, and utility companies.

The money will be allocated based on need, so everyone who applies for the program will go through a review process.

Assistance is offered to all renters, regardless of citizenship or immigration status.

Here's a link to the application and information on how to apply:

https://www.oregonrentalassistance.org/

Parent/Guardian Input for Class Placement for 2021-2022

Staffing for the next school year continues from late Spring and throughout the summer. Therefore, the school is not able to announce the name of teachers assigned to a particular grade level nor announce class rosters prior to August. Families will find out who their teacher is through communication that is sent to them the first week that teachers come back to work. Be sure our school has your updated email address!

Parents are given the opportunity to provide input to their current teachers regarding the learning needs of their child. Teachers will use this, as well as their own information, to place students in classes for next year. Placement Input Forms are available as a Google Form Link and are due by Friday, May 21st.

We do not accept requests for specific teachers. When current teachers place students in classes, they use many factors to create optimal class groups. Class groups are balanced by gender as well as strengths and needs of students. Additionally, teachers balance classes by Special Education needs, English as a Second Language needs, and Talented and Gifted needs. Teachers also look at the behavioral needs of students. With all of this considered, we also attempt to balance class size whenever possible.

Please use the Placement Input Form if you would like to ensure that certain factors are considered. I can assure you that teachers take this task very seriously. A great deal of time and effort goes into this process and each child is individually considered. Please contact us with any questions you might have about this very important process.

All placements are final. If you wish to provide input, please use this process.

Safe Schools

Dear Hazeldale Parents and Guardians,

It’s data collection time again for Beaverton’s Safe Routes to School program. The purpose of this program is to make walking and biking to school safe, convenient, and fun.

Parent’s and guardian’s input into how students travel to and from schools and their impression of the safety of the route is valuable as the city and county prioritize needed improvements for our roads. The following link was generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center and will be used to give us a good picture of how students are getting to and from schools throughout the district.

The school’s survey will be open for responses until May 31.

We appreciate your help in giving us information to make our program effective for all Beaverton School District students.

Thank you,

Leah Biado-Luis

Gracias,

Leah Biado-Luis

Coordinador de Rutas Seguras a la Escuela de Beaverton
