Rolling plains has long summers and with high temperatures and evaporation rates. Also mesquite trees take up a lot of the soil in the Plains.

Water ways
The rivers have cut canyons that shelter some plants and animals typical of the rocky mountain. What created the cut canyons was years of weathering of rainfall and wind.Next the average annual rainfall is 20 to 28 inches with some peaks in May and September.
