2023 Strategic Overview

Schools across New Zealand set Strategic Goals to provide a direction for all school stakeholders over a three year period. These goals along with our School Vision, provide a basis for school decision making.

The Strategic plan on the page below identifies our strategic direction for 2023. The graphic artist has also included our four key natural geographical features Mt Te Aroha, Mokena ( Geyser/ Ngawha), Hauraki (land) and the Waihou river. Our school wakas are named after these features and are referenced in our ‘Whakatauki’.

Tis the wedding season!!

Congratulations to Miss Sharnae Romeyn who got married on the 19th February on a beautiful sunny day in front of family and friends. We look forward to having Mrs Robinson teaching in Room 11 on her days from now on!

....and good luck to Miss Annmarie Trow who is getting married this weekend in her family garden in Tauranga. We feel sure there will be a little glitter and a lot of sparkle involved in this ceremony as there was at our assembly surprise this morning. Room 8 can't wait to see photos and welcome back Mrs Hack. Check out Miss Trow's special wedding outfit below.

District Swimming Results 2023

Following on from our own swimming Sports last Thursday, Mrs Meyler took a strong team of 26 to Districts swimming at the Te Aroha College pool. This group of athletes not only came away with amazing results on the day, but were a credit to our school. They showed an amazing team spirit and sportsmanship. Thank you to all our parent helpers on the day. As always we very much appreciate your support.

Special mention of Tyela van Kuijk who broke not one, but two records on the day!

Pukeko Art Club

Every Thursday lunchtime in Room 6 we have a Pukeko Art Club. There has been a lot of painting, colouring and collage going on. Next week we are exploring dye. If your child is in Pukeko and wants to join, encourage them to come along after lunch eating!

Miss Roycroft

Piwakawaka Swimming (Rooms 9.10, 11)

Thank you to all the Piwakawaka families who have sent swimming gear to school on a regular basis this term.

Because of the inconsistent weather and water temperature, the teachers in our team have made a decision for Rooms 9, 10 and 11 to finish swimming. Our students are very keen but many are finding the water very cool in the afternoons now.

This will allow the other teams to move swimming times, and give them extra time in the pool across the week.

We have noted the increase in water confidence across the classes , and even though we have had a shorter season we know the students have enjoyed their time in the pool this year.

Stanley Avenue netball 2023

The 2023 Netball season is creeping up on us rather quickly ….and there are some exciting changes this year. After much consultation, Netball will now be on Wednesdays after school. Games will be held at the Spur Street Courts starting with our Future Ferns at 3.30pm. We envisage that the Year 5-8 teams will play from 4.30pm onwards. This will start in Term 2…details of how this looks, will follow.

What we need now are names of children interested in playing netball in 2023 so we can make up teams and it would be really helpful if parent/caregivers could indicate if you would be able to help out in any way, ie Coach, Manage, Netball Co-ordinator and Umpire.

It will be very important that we have support and parental helpers to make this change to Wednesdays.

Please note….there will be a NETBALL FUN DAY on Saturday 25th March for all our budding netballers, as well as some guidance for any parents/ caregivers who are wanting to help out as coaches, managers, co ordinators etc. This is very informal and meant to encourage everyone to have a go at getting involved with your kids. It really is very rewarding and a lot of fun.

Please complete the survey on Hero, or the form sent home with your child today or email Kim at the school office office@stanleyave.school.nz with the details.

I will be looking to make up teams and send home details of fees etc next week (after the Te Aroha Netball Meeting on Sunday).

Regards Kim Hayes
