Makeshift Ponds Ready For Immersion Of Durga Idols
Puja Committees Are Asked To Keep The Sound Level Of The DJs Below 58 Decibel
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have made elaborate arrangements for the immersion of idols of Goddess Durga in makeshift ponds in Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to be held on Wednesday.
In Bhubaneswar, three makeshift ponds have been created near the banks of Kuakhai, Daya and Bhargavi rivers for idol immersion.
“Elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth passage of ‘Bhasani Utsav’ of Durga Idols. All the puja committees in Bhubaneswar have been instructed to finish the immersion of idols by 12 midnight tomorrow,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.
The police have asked the puja committees to keep the sound level of the DJs below 58 decibel to minimize noise pollution.
Anticipating the high turnout today, 30 platoons of police personnel have been deployed at various points in the Capital City to maintain law and order situation.12 top police officials, including five DCP rank officers, would oversee the security arrangement and regulate the crowd.
Members of Quick Action Team (QAT), Special Operation Group (SOG), anti-terror squad and plain-clothed personnel would also be on duty to avoid any untoward incident, police sources said.
“For Ravan Podi at Nayapalli, vehicles on the way from Cuttack to Khurda would be diverted to CRP Square via Jayadev Vihar and Power House Square. Similarly, road from Vani Vihar Square to Rupali Square would be sealed due to Ravan Podi at Saheed Nagar,” the DCP added.
On the other hand, Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora has directed the puja committees in the city to start the immersion procession at 8 am. Artificial ponds at Devigada on the bank of Kathajodi river have been constructed for immersion of idols of Goddess Durga.
