LOOKING FOR FEBRUARY LION'S DEN VOLUNTEERS....
We are looking for parent volunteers who could help operate the store for February shopping days. If you are interested in volunteering in the store, please complete the online registration form. All shifts will be two hours long. Feel free to sign up as often as you'd like. All volunteers must have completed a Wentzville School District volunteer background check prior to working the store. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
We will be limiting our volunteers to 4 people for each time slot. These will be selected based on sign up order. We are looking only for people who can positively support our students during their shopping experiences.

The Missouri Association of School Librarians sponsors several annual reader's awards to promote some of the best books to students in a variety of grade levels. Mrs. Cook, our librarian, encourages 4th and 5th grade students to read The Mark Twain Award Nominees. She promotes the books to the students and hosts a voting party in March for all students that read at least four of the nominees. At the end of December we had sixteen students accomplish the task of reading four of the nominees. Students will have until February 26, 2016 to read four books. Please ask your 4th or 5th grade students how many books they have read and encourage them to read! The link to the list of nominees is as follows: http://www.maslonline.org/?page=1516FinalNoms.
Get ready for our Book Fair and Donuts with Someone Special Event in February. Please watch for additional information in February regarding this exciting reading event.
FROM THE READING TEACHERS, MRS. KUNSTEL & MRS. PIEPER
HOMEWORK: That dreaded word!!! Sometimes 20 minutes of homework can turn into hours of frustration for you and your child. Remember to start small and work your way up. Have your child read 1 book they are familiar with from the reading teachers and then do some math. If they feel they can read another book, read 1 more before bed. Smaller amounts of good quality practice works better than an hour of tears and frustration.
You can go to Moms With Apps. It has different apps for iPads and iPods in many subject areas. Some are free and some have a small cost.
Congratulations to the following that won one of four holiday trees filled with gift cards.
Ryan O'Daniels, Jerome Hurd, Adrianna Payne, and Jennifer Clawson.
Michael Wheetley, top student seller, won an Acer laptop and Cody Clawson's name was drawn as winner of the tablet.
