Eleonora
Eleonora is a short story by the author Edgar Allan Poe, its first publication was in 1842. It was later republished in The Broadway Journal in 1845 with some revisions. The story is known for being somewhat autobiographical to Poe's own life.
Connection One
In the story the narrator lives with his Aunt and Cousin Eleonora in The Valley of the Many-Colored Grass. In real life Edgar also lived with his Aunt and Cousin.
Connection Two
The narrator and his cousin Eleonora fall in love. Poe and his cousin Virginia married in 1836 when he was 27 and she was 13.
Connection Three
In the story Eleonora becomes ill and dies. Poe's wife Virginia died of tuberculosis in 1847 when she only 24.
Connection Four
After the death of Eleonora the narrator leaves The Valley of the Many-Colored Grass and goes to the "strange city" where he meets and falls in love with Ermengarde. After Virginia died Poe left New York and went to Philadelphia. Later he met and fell in love with Sarah Royster Shelton, he had plans to marry her before his death in 1849.
