Davenport's Weekly Update
Week of January 3rd, 2021
Message from the Principal
Dear Davenport Staff & Students,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We are looking forward to a much better year for 2021. We may have gotten off to a ROCKY start with everything currently going on in the world, but there are still over 350 days remaining in 2021 to TRULY make it count. We will start STRONG and finish even STRONGER.
Continue to push through the remainder of the school year. In all things, remember to be Kind to yourself and others. Kindness can be infectious! Focus on spreading POSITIVITY!
Few Reminders:
- Parent conferences will be conducted this upcoming week. Please see flyer below for details.
We are preparing for the return of Hybrid-in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 19th.
- Be advised that in preparation of the start of the new marking period, parents need to contact building administration by 1/15/21 to change your child's previous student group. Ie. hybrid-in-person to virtual, virtual to hybrid-in-person.
- If you want to go from hybrid-in-person to virtual, you will need to provide a request in writing (email whitel@eht.k12.nj.us)
- Based on policy 1648, if you want to switch from virtual to hybrid-in-person the student would not begin in-person until 2/1/21.

Mindfulness in Art Class
Mrs. Pfaeffli's art students completed a Mindfulness Labyrinth drawing. Labyrinth's date back to about 4,000 years ago and were intended to promote centering the mind, relaxing the mind, or emptying a mind that may be too full and in need of a "brain break." It is used by following the path with your finger or a similar tool. If done slowly and a couple times, it should successfully evoke a feeling of calm. It is always a bonus when we're able to make art that is also useful!
