WELCOME TO OUR NEW BAND DIRECTORS

A warm welcome to our new Director of Bands, Mr. Josh Roberts, and our new Assistant Band Director, Mr. John Renfroe! Thanks to all the students and parents who came to our “Meet and Greet” last week to meet our new band directors. We are all excited and looking forward to a bright future with the RHS band!

Our Pre-Marching Band Camp is off to a great start this week! The students have been meeting with our new directors and it's sounding great!



Wednesday, July 21 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

● 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Meet in the Band Room

○ Transition to visual block at practice field

○ Stretch, sectionals, and visual block

● 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. - lunch

○ Students need to bring their lunch

○ Parent may drop food off at lunch time

○ Student MAY NOT leave campus for lunch

● 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Music Rehearsal

○ Brass and woodwinds in the band room

○ Color Guard in the cafeteria

○ Percussion outside

● 3:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.- snack break

● 3:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. - Full Ensemble Rehearsal

○ Practice field to set drill

Thanks to all the chaperones who volunteered their time during the Pre-Band and Fundamentals camps thus far. We are still in need of more volunteers this week to assist at Fundamentals Camp. Please sign up below if you can assist. Thanks so much!

Times: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.; 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Quantity: 4 chaperones each day/shift

Responsibilities: Oversee band students/watch for heat exhaustion, etc.

MARCHING BAND CAMP PARENTS MEETING

There will be an informational parents meeting to give more information about our Jekyll Island trip and to answer any questions you may have.

Who ........................... At least one parent of each student is encouraged to attend

MARCHING BAND FEES ARE DUE NOW!

The total fee for Marching Band students is $1,150.


If you don't know how much your remaining balance is, please either:


  • Email our treasurer, Aimee Christian, at treasurer@roswellband.com or,
  • See Aimee in the Band Room on Thursday, July 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (after the Band Camp Parents Meeting)


The options for paying any remaining fees are as follows:


1) Mail a check made out to RHSBBA to 885 Woodstock Road, Suite 430-144, Roswell, GA 30075.


2) Pay in person. We will be collecting payments at the school at the following times:


  • Wednesday, July 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m. (after the Band Camp Parents Meeting)


Please remember marching band fees are due BEFORE we leave for Jekyll Island. We want everyone to be able to participate. If you are experiencing financial constraints, let us know ahead of time that you need a payment plan or a scholarship. Forms can be downloaded at https://www.roswellband.org/join/documents-forms/.

The 2021 RHS Band Banquet is almost here!

Invitations have gone out to all 2020/2021 school year students and their families.

Are you ready for an exciting and fun-filled week at Marching Band Camp on Jekyll Island? Band Camp is like nothing else. You will be meeting new people and playing some fantastic music as a member of the Roswell Hornet Swarm!


This year's Marching Band Camp will be at the Georgia 4-H Camp at Jekyll Island. It will be one of our best Band Camps yet and will definitely be an experience that you will never forget!

MARCHING BAND CAMP SCHEDULE

Sunday, July 25

● 8:00 a.m. - report to RHS band room for pre-trip meeting

● 8:45 a.m. - load buses and take roll

● 9:00 a.m. - depart RHS for Jekyll Island

● 12:00 p.m. - stop for lunch (Location TBD)

● 4:00 p.m. - arrive at Jekyll Island

● 4:00 p.m. - get settled in bunks and prepare for band camp

● 5:30 p.m. - dinner

● 6:30 p.m. - unload trailer for rehearsal

● 7:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. - music rehearsal in auditorium

○ Percussion - location TBD

○ Color Guard - location TBD

● 10:30 p.m. - in bunks and ready for lights out
