Dear Cambrian Families,
As we head off for the holiday break, I wanted to share some news with you. I have accepted an offer from the Cambrian Governing Board of Trustees to become the permanent Superintendent for Cambrian School District. I am thrilled at this most incredible opportunity to partner with staff, students and families to provide an excellent education to our students and serve our community.
Navigating these uncertain times has been a challenge, but it has been accomplished when our district community has united to focus our collective efforts on our children. I count it an honor to continue to lead our mighty team, partnering with parents and seeing extraordinary results. As a staff member in Cambrian School District for 11 years in a variety of capacities, I have had a front-row seat to witness exceptional achievements across the district. Though our enrollment has been slipping in recent years, we have managed to secure excellent staff and our parent support is exemplary. I look forward to meeting with all stakeholders in the new year to reiterate my commitment and support.
Thank you for your vote of confidence as I embark on this new journey. I truly believe that the best is yet to come for the Cambrian School District, and that together, anything is possible.
Have a wonderful holiday and happy new year!
CEF Readathon Is Back!
The Cambrian Educational Foundation (CEF) is excited to announce the dates for the 2nd Annual Readathon for Mental Health! Last year, the monies raised went directly to the district to fund the following programs: Kelvin (Mental Health Digital Checks with students), Care Solace (Mental Health agency connecting all community members with outside mental health providers), and Zones of Regulation Curriculum for all 4 Elementary Schools and Steindorf. THANK YOU to the community for making this possible!
This year, the Readathon will run from January 14th - February 4th. We will kick off the Readathon on January 14th with a districtwide Spirit Day: Dress as your favorite book character! We will be logging minutes via pledgestar again this year. If you would like to signup now: https://pledgestar.com/cambrian/
We are excited to host this event again this year and will be again offering prizes for top readers! Please be on the lookout for more information after break!

Stressed?
Season’s greetings! With the upcoming holiday break, we encourage you to relax, unwind, and settle into an enjoyable holiday season. While the holiday season brings joy, we all know it may also bring unwelcome guests, like stress and grief. Some of us may be balancing endless to-do lists from shopping to entertaining. Some of us may be experiencing the holidays without a loved one for the first time. While we each celebrate this season’s joys, it’s also important to stay mindful, acknowledge our feelings, and reach out for help if needed. While schools are closed, we want to remind you of the resources available in our community. We encourage you to save these resources so you can easily reference them should you or a family member need help during the break.
Cambrian School District partnered with Care Solace to support the well-being of students and their family members. Care Solace is a complimentary and confidential care coordination service that can help you quickly find mental health or substance use treatment options matched to your needs regardless of circumstance. If you or a family member are looking for help with mental health or substance use and would like to use Care Solace to help you find a provider:

Booster Vaccinations
In case you haven’t heard, along with COVID-19 Pfizer booster vaccinations, the County of Santa Clara will now administer booster shots to those who received the Johnson & Johnson or Moderna vaccine and are eligible under CDC guidelines. County clinics are taking appointments at www.sccFreeVax.org and everyone eligible is encouraged to receive a booster shot.
People who received their initial series with any of the three COVID-19 vaccines (Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna) may now be eligible for a booster. Boosters are recommended for:
Everyone 18 and older who received their Johnson & Johnson shot 2 or more months ago.
Most people who received their Pfizer or Moderna shot 6 or more months ago:
Those who are 65+, 18 and older living in a long term care facility, or are 50+ with an underlying condition, are strongly urged to get their booster as soon as possible.
Those who are 18 and older and have an underlying medical condition, or work in a setting that may increase their risk of exposure, may also consider getting a booster
Boosters provide important additional protection because we now understand that the protection from the initial vaccine series may decrease over time, and a booster shot is highly effective in preventing serious hospitalization and death. Find a variety of drop-in or appointment-based sites for your booster at www.sccFreeVax.org

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT Housing Support Request for the 2021-2022 School Year
We are so thrilled to have students back on campus to support and educate. The impact of COVID-19 continues to remain with us as we adapt our educational practices in meeting the needs of our students, family, and community that we serve. Knowing that the pandemic’s impact is broad and changing in ways that we may not fully realize, this communication is being sent to identify any supports that your student may be entitled to under the McKinney-Vento legislation.
If your housing situation has recently changed please complete this survey: https://bit.ly/CSDhousingchange and we will be sure to reach out to you. If your housing situation meets the criteria identified by the Cambrian School District’s Housing Questionnaire and your child is eligible, we can provide additional supports throughout the school year. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s development.
