Hello DPM Families,
We hope that everyone had a wonderful and restful summer. We are excited to welcome back our students to Deer Path for the 2023-2024 school year! We are again excited to serve as the principals, together with our Assistant Principals Mr. Jeremy Fischer (5th/6th grade) and Mr. Rob Wegley (7th/8th). We are blessed to have outstanding staff at Deer Path who work hard to ensure each student receives a well-rounded education rooted in our Core Values of Perseverance, Integrity, Compassion, Curiosity, and Funtastic. We also believe in maintaining high expectations and providing a safe environment so each student can contribute to the success of Deer Path Middle School.
As we prepare together for our students’ return to DPM, please see important information and calendar dates below. We highly encourage our families to read our Parent Newsletter each week with updates on DPM events. information about the first full day of school on Wednesday, August 23rd is also included below.

DPM Bell Schedule
We will be utilizing a new bell schedule for the 2023-2024 school year. School begins at 8:35 am each day. Just as we had last year, we will have a one-hour Early Release each Monday, with the school day ending at 2:35 pm, and a consistent Tuesday - Friday release time of 3:35 pm. Early Release Information
This weekly collaboration time has been in place at the elementary schools and at LFHS for many years, allowing teachers to engage in valuable training and professional development. Sports and extracurriculars will occur as usual on Mondays at 3:45 pm.
After School Options
Students who stay on the DPM campus after school on Mondays may take advantage of the following options:
Silent Study Hall: Students can complete homework in the Cube and Haskins with supervision from Preferred Building Substitutes. Students can sign up each week for this option during homeroom on Mondays.
CROYA Activities for 7th/8th Grade: CROYA is offering after school opportunities on Monday for 7th and 8th graders starting at 2:30 pm. Please visit the CROYA website for more information.
Transportation: Bussing will still ONLY be offered at the end of the school day (Mondays at 2:35 pm, Tuesday-Friday 3:35 pm) following normal routes.
If a student chooses to utilize the after school care option, parents/guardians are responsible for arranging transportation.
Beginning of Year Events
New Families Parent Orientation
New Family Orientation for PARENTS will be held on August 10th from 10:00 am - 11:00 pm in the Cube at DPM. If you park in the front side lot, you can enter through Cube Doors. Look for the balloons!
5th Grade Orientation
The staff and students of Deer Path Middle School invite all incoming fifth grader STUDENTS to Fifth Grade Orientation sponsored by the WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Program! We will welcome our incoming 5th graders on August 18th, 2021 from 9:00 - 11:00 am.
The 8th-grade WEB Leaders will guide the new 5th graders in fun activities that are designed to build positive relationships and help with the transition to DPM. Drop-off and pick-up will be in the rear of the building. For more information, please contact Ken Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org.
6th, 7th and 8th New Student Orientation
We can't wait to welcome and meet our newest Braves on Friday, August 18th from 9am-11am! STUDENTS new to District 67 who will be in 6th, 7th or 8th grades are invited to go on a tour of DPM and learn the ins and outs of being a DPM Brave. Students will meet current DPM Student Ambassadors who will be available to help our new students adjust and answer questions throughout the year! New Student Orientation will be held in the Haskins Center, which is the 7th/8th grade media center (entrance closer to the police station). Light snacks/refreshments will be provided. We hope your student can join us!
Student Walk Throughs
We will be hosting student walk throughs on Tuesday, August 22nd from 9:30 - 11:00 am. Students will be able to tour the building and walk through their individual student schedules. Students are encouraged to bring their school supplies and set-up their lockers. This is a FAMILY event.
