COVID Testing Information
How Minnesotans can get a COVID-19 test:
- Walk in or schedule an appointment for a free test at one of the state’s 11 community testing sites across Minnesota: COVID-19 Community Testing Sites
- Order a free test through the state’s at-home testing program: COVID-19 Test at Home
- Find other testing options near them through the state’s Find Testing Locations map, including through local providers, pharmacies and clinics: Find Testing Locations.
Who Should Get Tested
- Even if you are vaccinated, Minnesotans should get tested:
- if you have symptoms of the virus;
- if you have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19;
- if you are returning from international travel;
- or if you have attended a large gathering or event where people are not wearing masks and are not able to stay 6 feet apart.
- People who are unvaccinated should test before travel (domestic or international).
- Unvaccinated teachers, staff and students in K-12 should test weekly at a minimum or more frequently per CDC guidance.
- With the at-home program and 11 community testing sites offering free testing across the state, the state has made it easy for Minnesotans to find a test.
TEAM Academy COVID-19 Preparedness Plan 21-22
Our goal is to stay in person this school year! Here are the main things your family can do to help us. The full COVID-19 Preparedness Plan can be viewed in the link below. We had no positive cases in our building last year, so let's work together to make this happen again.
Masks: Masks are required indoors by all individuals (vaccinated or not). Masks are required on school transportation vehicles (mandated by CDC).
Students will not be considered close contacts if both the infected student (lab confirmed) and the exposed student(s) were correctly and consistently wore well-fitting masks the entire time.
Health Screening Process: If you're sick, stay home. If your child is exhibiting any illness-like symptoms please keep them home.
Other Mitigation Strategies: TEAM will continue to implement grade level cohorting, 3 feet physical distancing, hand hygiene practices, cleaning and disinfecting protocols, and enhanced indoor air ventilation to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We also have new air purifiers in every room!
Vaccinations for School Age Students: Individuals age 12 and older are currently eligible for the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Community sites continue to offer vaccinations to students age 12 and up. The State of Minnesota Vaccine Locator tool allows searching by zip code, distance, age group, and more.
COVID-19 Testing: Minnesota and Vault Medical Services have teamed up to offer no-barrier, at-home COVID-19 saliva testing for everyone who lives in Minnesota, with or without symptoms. You can read more about this service on the Minnesota Department of Health website. We do have the saliva tests and rapid tests available to send home with families that request it. The tests are only for students to use.
Visitors: In order to help maintain our safe school environment, TEAM Academy is not allowing visitors during the school day.
Instruction during quarantine: If you child needs to quarantine, the classroom teacher will get work for them to complete.
COVID Testing Options
There are many ways to get tested for COVID-19 and the following options are available at no cost to Minnesotans.
- The state is providing free testing options for schools to offer to students and staff.
- All schools are strongly encouraged to offer testing options and share information with parents/guardians and school staff, including how consent for testing will be obtained.
- There are COVID-19 community testing sites across Minnesota offering free tests to all.
- People can go to local pharmacies, hospitals and clinics. You can search for testing sites near you at Find Testing Locations.
- Families can also use the COVID-19 test at home program to have a test mailed to them.
