Bermudian Springs Elementary School Families,
It is hard to believe the month of May is upon us. The busyness of the school year is winding down. As the Year of Adventure concludes, my hope is that your child has had a rich school year full of hands on opportunities and engaging learning experiences. And while we may not have "traveled" beyond the school walls this year, the experiences provided have left positive and lasting impressions on the pages of our students' "learning passports".
As we conclude the 21-22 school year, I am excited to begin planning for the 22-23 school year!
We need your help! Each year, BSES establishes a word for the upcoming year with the help of staff, students, and parents. Over the past few years, we have celebrated The Year of Awareness, The Year of Teamwork and The Year of Kindness. As we wrap up The Year of Adventure, I would like to personally thank our BSES families and teachers for working together to provide our students an amazing school experience this year. Please select our 22-23 word using the linked survey Year of Survey Our identified word will be the springboard for future planning and preparation.
I look forward to a summer full of opportunities to create lasting memories with my family, professional growth, and planning for a fantastic 22-23 school year. My hope is that all BSES students and families have a summer full of adventure, creating stories, experiences and memories to fill your "passport". As always, I am available by phone or email throughout the month of May and will be available throughout the summer if you need to contact me for any reason. I am excited for a continued partnership with the families at Bermudian Springs Elementary School.

Mr. Metzger's Health Tips
A lot of people forget about these two topics when talking about being healthy. Drinking enough water and getting the right amount of sleep are just as important as eating healthy and exercising. I feel so much better after I have had a good night's sleep. Most experts agree that elementary age children (ages 5 to10) need 9 to 12 hours of sleep per day. Is your child getting the recommended amount of sleep? It is equally as important to drink enough water throughout the day. Experts say that elementary age children should drink 5 to 8 cups of water a day. Consider making water the beverage of choice for your evening meal. Hopefully you will find these tips helpful. Have a healthy day!

2022-2023 Transportation
It is hard to believe that the 2021-2022 school year is coming to an end. As the year ends, we want to make sure all of our information is up-to-date in our busing software for the upcoming school year, so we are asking all parents to provide us with any alternate transportation needs.
Please contact Mrs. Cook, if there is a change with your child’s bus location for the 2022-2023 school year. We would like this information to be communicated via email tcook@bermudian.org no later than June 1, 2022. Please be as specific as possible regarding the days and the address of the proposed stop. Please note you only need to email Mrs. Cook, if there is a change from your current busing stops.
Current 4th Grade Parents: please notify Mrs. Green at egreen@bermudian.org if there is a change with your child's bus location for the 2022-2023 school year. Please keep in mind that Middle school students will be picked up and dropped off approximately 1 hour earlier than the Elementary routes. Mrs. Green would like to have this updated information no later than June 1, 2022, and would like this information to be communicated via email and as specific as possible regarding the days and the address of the proposed stop.
Both Elementary and Middle schools will be mailing out the new busing schedules in their Summer mailing packets for the 2022-2023 school year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Cook at tcook@bermudian.org or call 717-528-5147.

Classroom Placement Requests
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is incredible to think about how quickly the 2021-2022 school year is coming to an end. While the school year has proven to be anything but typical, summer will be here before we know it! Teachers will be taking time at the end of the year to consider class placements for the 2022-2023 school year. We take this process very seriously, and feel confident that our teachers understand the social, emotional, and academic needs of your child.
We also value the partnership we have with our families to ensure that each student is placed with a teacher who will foster these needs in the upcoming school school year. We will be accepting letters from families regarding the placement of your child, but will be asking you to follow very specific guidelines. The purpose of these letters are not to request a specific teacher, but to take some time to provide us with information you feel would be helpful when selecting a new classroom teacher. We will require that each letter adhere to the following guidelines:
Letters must be submitted by May 31, 2022. We will not accept late letters under any circumstances.
Letters may only describe social, emotional, or academic needs of your child (thrives off structure, organization, frequent communication, flexibility, choice, etc.).
Letters that request specific teachers or include teacher identifiers (ex: male teacher, teacher with strong math background, sibling had this teacher in previous year, new/veteran teacher, etc.) will not be considered.
Please email requests to Mrs. Eley at jeley@bermudian.org.
Please understand that letters not following the above guidelines will not be considered. We believe strongly that any teacher your child is assigned to will provide a positive school experience.
We thank you for your cooperation and continued partnership in your child’s educational journey!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jennifer I. Eley
Elementary Principal

Monthly Meeting
Leadership Needs
Exciting changes are coming for the 2022-23 School year! The BSES PTO is thrilled to be welcoming Andrea Everhart as the new PTO President! Andrea is a local business owner, active community member, and supporter of our school. She is a graduate of Bermudian and now has 2 children currently in the elementary school. Andrea is an ideal candidate to lead this group in the continued efforts to support what matters most : bettering the lives of every child that sets foot in our building. But she can't do it alone! As Andrea builds her team, the PTO is actively looking for several volunteers who are interested in helping lead and organize some of our programs. The Race for Education, Grants Committee, and Spring Fundraiser, are each in need of a chair or co-chair team. We are also looking for a new Secretary. If you are interested in being more involved or helping our school in a leadership capacity, please email bsespto@bermudian.org for more information.
4th Grade Picnic
THE 4th GRADE PICNIC IS HAPPENING!
The 4th grade picnic will be hosted at school on May 24th. Permission forms and additional details will be sent home to all 4th grade families. We look forward to celebrating the class of 2030 and their bright futures!
