Penn Wood Vision: Highly Effective - Academic Excellence, Personal Growth, Creative Thinking, Service to the Community

From the Principal's Office:

Happy New Year!

Hopefully 2022 marks the end of Covid-19 and another Eagles Super Bowl appearance! Only time will tell:) WE WILL BE HAVING AN EAGLE SPIRIT DAY TOMORROW!!! Go BIRDS!

There has been a lot of communication coming from the school district and in today's newsletter I wanted to attempt to clarify some of the questions I have been getting. I attached the PDF below that outlines some FAQ's regarding Dr. Sokolowski's email this week.

The next couple weeks (GRADES 3-5):

1) January 18th - 28th Penn Wood Homeroom teachers will have their cameras on (facing the front board) for students that are out with Covid-19 or waiting to get a vaccine. Students who are absent from school for COVID related reasons and those seeking the vaccination or booster may voluntarily log in to observe and listen to a class session. They will not be able to actively participate during class (camera and mics will be turned off), and will access any lesson materials through Schoology.

2) The camera will be on for the ELA & Math whole group instruction portion of the lesson - usually 20-30 minutes. Please make every effort to be on time if you are using this option. If no students are logged on within 5 minutes the camera will not be on.

3) The parent will need to contact the teacher before 9am so the teacher can share the ZOOM link via Schoology/email.

4) In-person instruction will continue to take place each day.

5) Students in grades K-2 - no changes/updates

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your support as we venture into the next couple of weeks.

Kind regards,

Dr. Mike G. Garvin

Nurse Updates:

Vaccination questions: is the CCHD link for COVID vaccines. Again, children who are fully vaccinated do not have to quarantine after exposure if they are asymptomatic.

As always, if you have any questions please contact PW Nurse Mrs. Burg.

Arrival and Dismissal Updates:

Dismissal - The main office is very busy at the end of the day...Please call well before 3:00pm if you have any dismissal changes.

Arrival carline drop off - 8:30 - 9:00am

Note - After 9:00 am - drop off is out front because our staff is supervising students in the building. The AM carline has a long walkway lined by cones and signage. Rule of thumb...once you are stopped near the cones unload. "Just like ice cream...stay inside the cones:)"

Afternoon Carline - 3:30 - 3:45

Please follow these protocols:

1) Please stay in car

2) If students can't buckle themselves in the car...please pull forward to the cul-de-sac and buckle there

PM Carline protocol below:

1) PM carline begins at 3:30 and runs until 3:45.

2) Please do not enter the carline until 3:15. Vehicles cannot line up and wait as this causes unnecessary congestion on Johnny’s Way.

3) Enter the campus eastbound on Johnny’s Way. (PM Carline Directional Map) Below...

4) Do not block driveways on Johnny’s Way

5) Office early dismissals end at 3:00. If you have to take your child to a doctor’s appointment, sporting event, etc.…please arrange to pick up prior to 3:00. Please make sure your early dismissal info is in PICKUPPATROL by 2:00pm the day of the early dismissal.

Thank you in advance for your understanding as we look to increase efficiency and safety with our dismissal procedures.

Note: Please know that the preferred mode of transportation for all students is the bus. If you would like to start/resume using district transportation please contact the main office. If your child does not ride the bus for a lengthy amount of time your child or stop may be dropped from the roster.
