Students -- want to connect with your counselor? Stop by our offices in the admin building during brunch, lunch or an open period, or schedule an appointment through our counseling website (link below). Parents who wish to meet with a counselor can email Ms. Crowley, Staff Assistant, to request an appointment.
PSAT Exam
On Saturday, October 15th, interested 10th & 11th grade students may take the PSAT (Practice SAT) exam for free. Although the UC/CSU's no longer require the SAT for admission, some private and out-of-state colleges continue to consider SAT scores. To register, please submit the form that was emailed to families by the Office of Curriculum and Assessment. Deadline to register: Sept. 9th.
Senior Announcements!
- Sept. 13-14: Presentations on college application process in English classes
- Sept. 20 & 28: Private College Application Workshops
- Sept. 29: Senior College Info Night for students & parents
- Oct 17: Financial aid presentations in Gov/Econ classes
Beginning in October, counselors will be available to help seniors apply for college & financial aid in the Career Center every Wednesday during Flex. Reach out if you have questions in the meantime... we've got your back!

VOLUNTEER AS A TUTOR DURING FLEX!✏️
Hey there 11th and 12th graders! Do you have time during FLEX? We're looking for volunteer tutors! You would need to make a commitment to tutor in the library every week for FLEX for this semester. Please complete this form for an interview with Ms Peng, Student Success Coordinator or email with questions to speng@smuhsd.org. The ideal candidate would be someone who can tutor MULTIPLE SUBJECTS. 2) WHAT TIME IS TUTORING OFFERED?
With over 3000 tutors, Tutor.com is available 24/7 – wherever students have online access, whenever they want to connect with a tutor – at home, at school, anywhere – no matter when.
3) WHAT SUBJECTS ARE AVAILABLE?
Students can get help in 60+ subjects in the areas of math, science, English, writing, social studies, AP courses, and more – Tutor.com also provides job search assistance.
4) WHAT KIND OF TUTORS ARE ON TUTOR.COM?
All tutors must pass a rigorous application process that test for expert-level subject knowledge and effective tutoring methodology. All classroom sessions are monitored by Tutor.com management. No person information is shared between student and tutor.
5) DO TUTORS JUST GIVE ANSWERS?
Every Tutor.com session is personalized to meet the needs of students, from remedial to advanced levels. It focuses on conceptual learning and critical thinking – not just quick answers. Fall Dual Enrollment Courses
This fall, Skyline College is offering two dual enrollment courses at Mills that allow students to earn both high school and college credits. Intro to Business is now full, but there's still space in Gateway to Healthcare Careers. See flyer for details, and email your counselor to sign up!
Wellness Corner
Need someone to talk to? Wellness Counselors are safe, supportive adults at school where any Mills student can get free, confidential, nonjudgmental help. Check out the Wellness Counseling website for details on how to meet with a wellness counselor.
