CCHS EOC Blitz Program
Colleton County High School offered one final push to its students through the implementation of an EOC Blitz program. The program was designed to allow students a time to review and refresh the skills necessary to be successful on the end-of-course examinations. The Blitz was a four-day experience where students were able to ask questions, engage in interactive learning sessions, and to collaborate with their peers. The purpose of this framework was to foster positive attitudes towards learning and increasing our students’ scores from meeting the testing requirements to demonstrating exemplary mastery on the state’s assessments.
Through the effective planning and collaboration of the administration, teachers, content
specialists, and the secondary instructional technology coach, students were able to participate in sessions that were tailored to each particular skill that would be assessed on the end-of-course examinations. Principal Cannon implemented an incentive program to motivate students to perform during their sessions. Incentives included bicycles, restaurant gift cards, headphones, and smart televisions. Students earned tickets during the sessions based on their participation and engagement. All students were automatically eligible for these incentives, and were overjoyed when they won. Parents were notified about incentives and the feedback from the parents was amazing. They were so excited that their students were doing so well in this major study session.
Great job, CCHS! The future is looking bright. The blitz was the example of “Success by
Choice, not by Chance”!
Incentives Explanation
Earning tickets are not based solely on academic strength. It is about being present and active. “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.”
TV: One student will win a TV at the end of the day. This winner will be selected from the tickets collected throughout the course of the day. You only need to have at least one ticket to win this prize.
Bike: The student with the highest number of tickets will win a bike. This is earned on participation and being engaged. Earning tickets are not based solely on academic strength.
Gift Cards Pt. 1: Each session will have an overall winner based on the highest score on the activity. At the end of the day, the teacher will highlight the overall student with the highest of the high scores to win a $15 gift card to McDonald’s, Taco Bell, or Sonic.
Headphones: The student with the overall highest overall highest score in all sessions, regardless of session type, will receive a set of headphones. (**Teachers: Be sure to record your student’s name and score on the provided handout in the classroom so we can determine this.)
Gift Cards Pt. 2 : The teacher will select a student as the “Star Student” of the session. At the end of the day, the teacher will look at the 6 students they selected and choose ONE student to be their “Star Student of the Day”. Each “Star Student of the Day” will receive a $15 gift card.
