Specific feedback on student work display
At Wagram Elementary, Mrs. Buffkin has her students use facts from research to write an informational paragraph (W 2.2). They spent time researching what hedgehogs eat, their habitat, appearance and fun facts. They then were able to put the information together to create their paragraph. Mrs. Buffkin provides each student with specific feedback when complete.
Rigorous Assignment on Central Message
In Mrs. Walker's 3rd Grade ELA class at Covington Street Elementary, students complete a rigorous assignment on central message. This assignment does a great job of meshing several standards together while students apply their understanding of central message within a creative format.
Progression of student writing using graphic organizers
In her kindergarten class at Laurel Hill, Mrs. Knauss has a student who she knew had great potential to add more to her writing. After modeling the use of graphic organizers and having the students complete their own organizers, Mrs. Knauss' student was able to write 4 complete sentences and uses creative details with more consistency in her later writing.
Using Graphic Organizers in Kindergarten for Informational Writing
Ms. Chiquita McNeill's kindergarten students at Sycamore Lane Elementary are learning how to compose their own writing about an informational topic. With the use of a graphic organizer, the teacher guided and supported their identification of the main idea and supporting details for the informational writing piece they were going to complete.
Feedback on Kindergarten Writing
In Mrs. Sheppard-Robinson's kindergarten class at Covington Street Elementary, students' writing is posted with specific feedback. For this student's writing, Mrs. Sheppard-Robinson commented on how well the student sounded out the words "primary colors." This is a great example of a student work display that may not contain "perfect work" or work with grades at a 100%; but rather, it is a student work display with teacher feedback that acknowledges the foundational writing process and growth of the student.
Digital Student Work Board
In Mr. Wedlock's 7th grade ELA/SS class at Spring Hill Middle, students created their own children's stories using Story Jumper. Students used a plot graphic organizer to develop their original narratives The QR codes connect to the digital books! Mr. Wedlock gives specific feedback on colored index cards next to each QR code
Chorus Word Wall
In T. Spencer's chorus classroom at Spring Hill middle school. Students have created a word wall that is categorized by performance music topics. Students create pictures for each word to help create memory cues for their definitions and applications.
