Principal's Message

Hello Hueneme Elementary Families,

Welcome November! Here we are at about 50 days of learning and almost to the end of the first trimester! Report cards will be shared during the parent/ teacher conferences. Teachers will be sharing more information regarding conferences in the weeks to come.

PTA Information: In this months newsletter, you can see all of the events that are being hosted by the Hueneme PTA!

A BIG thank you to all of the families that helped make our fall carnival a success! From the families that donated baked goods to those that helped out the night of- Hueneme PTA appreciates your support! We would also like to thank our families that attended the event and the students that worked so hard to create a game!

Lockdown drill and fire drill: A goal at the school and district level is to host a drill every month. In the month of November, we are working with the Port Hueneme Police Department to hold a lockdown drill to include a fire/evacuation drill following. We are hoping to host this drill the week of November 14th. We do not have the exact day of the week, but please discuss this topic with your child. It is important that we practice and are prepared in the event of an emergency.

Safety First: Safety is important in and around our school! Many cars stop in the middle of the streets to let their children out of the car or for students to get into cars. There is limited parking at Hueneme and drop off and pick up gets busy! Please do your very best to find a parking spot. This puts our students and families in danger when they run out into the street. In addition, this also holds up the traffic that are also trying to pick up. If we all do our part, I know we can get to and from school safely! Thank you in advance for your help!

Parking Lots: Please keep in mind that the Hueneme parking lots are extremely busy with traffic. If you are dropping off students in the morning at the Clara gate, please pull forward and have students get out of the car. Drivers, please remain in the car so that the traffic continues to flow. This will help our Hueneme community. The other parking lots on 3rd Street are staff parking only. Thank you for your support and good driving!

Entering School: For the 2022-2023 school year, we will have BOTH GATES OPEN as in past years. If your child is having breakfast, please have them enter at the back cafeteria gate from 7:35-7:55. Upper grade students can enter that gate as well. Primary students are welcome to enter on the Clara St. gate. The Clara St. gate opens at 7: 35. Both gates close promptly at 8:00. Late arrivals should report to the office for a tardy slip.

There is NO supervision prior the gate opening. Please do not drop students off earlier than 7:35. Thank you!
