Featuring Ms. Carly Jones
Who we are...
We hope you enjoy this edition!
1. Name and position in AJAC?
Good afternoon everyone. My name is Carly Jones and I am the KG2 teacher.
2. Where are you from?
I come from Cambridge, England.
3. Family?
I have 1 brother and 2 sisters. I am the eldest child.
4. Childhood nickname?
My dad’s nickname is Whizzy and mine was Fizzy!
5. Favourite food?
Definitely Thai food by far!
6. Hobbies?
I am really into animal welfare. Anything to do with dogs actually. I absolutely love dogs!
7. Favourite place in the UAE?
Sitting in my garden in RAK on a Friday morning when it’s peaceful and quiet.
8. Most memorable experience as a teacher so far?
There’s too many to mention! I think my first day of teaching in London in 1998. There was so much to learn and I probably felt very overwhelmed!
9. Funniest moment in your teaching career?
Working with young children creates so many funny moments! They always say exactly what is on their mind and they have no filter! If I had to choose one moment, I think it would be the time I lost my cat in whilst living in East London and a little girl from my class ran all the way back to school one afternoon as she had found my cat in her garden!
10. The most challenging moment in your teaching career?
The first day teaching KG age children! It was a tough transition from Key Stage 1, but I absolutely love teaching this age group now and wouldn’t work in any other age-phase.
11. Childhood hero?
This is a tough one… It would probably Simon Le Bon from Duran Duran!
12. If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be?
As I love animals I would be a vet for sure.
We are lucky to have such a wonderful person like you be part of the AJAC family.
