A Note From Jen and Jane

We are off to the 2016 NYLA/SSL Conference (and accompanying meetings) at the Desmond Hotel. Fifteen school librarians from Questar III will be joining us for several days of learning and fun. In addition, we will be celebrating the School Library Systems 30th Anniversary.

NEW Digital Citizenship Curriculum

The New York City SLS has revised their Digital Citizenship Curriculum. This curriculum replaces the old one that was preloaded on the green ESIFC flash drive. You can download it from the ESIFC Libguide at Click on the tab for Digital Literacy and download the new curriculum.

Database Orders

Please submit your database orders as soon as possible!!!

Our goal is to provide you with great databases at the best price in time for the beginning of the school year. Without time to process your orders and ensure that your business office has given approval for payment, we cannot guarantee that you will have all databases for the start of the 2016-2017 school year.

School Librarians: Deeply Embedded - Fully Collaborative

Olga Nesi is returning to the Capital Region this summer. Please visit MyLearningPlan to register for her workshop taking place on August 2nd.

Are you the victim of "drive-by"collaboration? Do you get the sense that even if you are teaching all the time, your instruction is not ever fully and systematically embedded into school-wide instructional goals? Do you wish library resources were more seamlessly integrated into classroom instruction? Join us this summer for a day of hands-on, participant-centered learning as we share concrete, immediately implementable strategies and a practical plan to deeply embed library instruction and resources into the curricular goals of your building.

Please note: in order to participate fully in this workshop, you will need a copy of the Empire State Information Fluency Continuum (ESIFC) in binder format. Please contact your School Library System Director if you will need a binder.

Lunch will be provided.
