Monthly Memo from the Principal

Mrs. Robbins- April 2022

Here comes the SUN!!!

What an amazing, beautiful, and sunny weekend we just had! Baseball is back, lawns need to be mowed, trees are starting to bud, kids are wearing shorts, and we are gearing up for the last nine weeks of the 2021-2022 school year. Every year I tell teachers (especially the new-to-profession ones) to push to Spring Break because it is all downhill from there. The next few weeks are going to fly by for sure!

We hope you were all able to reset and renew over spring break and gear up for this time of year. My family enjoyed a stay-cation. We visited with local family, friends, cleaned out closets and drawers, worked on the yard, and rested. It was a nice week for sure.

Please read all of the following information and let us know if we can answer any questions. I have included a link at the bottom for questions to be submitted. We will follow up with you as soon as possible. Also, please check out our website at www.phe.leanderisd.org and www.leanderisd.org for so much up-to-date information and links to help you and your student.

We appreciate you ALL!

Reminders about lunch...

Parents/visitors may only eat lunch with students on Fridays. Fast food is only allowed to be dropped off or brought into the cafeteria on Fridays as well. Please email Heather Robbins if you have any questions.

Thank you!!!

Thank you to Ms. Arnold, Mrs. Fujawa, Ms. Bauerle, Mrs. Schwartz, Ms. Norris, and Mrs. Smith for supporting our Performing Arts students! We attended the March 25th production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka at the University of Texas Bass Concert Hall and it would NOT have happened without all of these amazing teachers and volunteers. Check out the PHE Performing Arts page to see more pics!

STAAR is coming!

Here is a list of the days STAAR will be administered to our students:

3rd Grade-

Math: May 10

Reading: May 12

4th Grade-

Math: May 10

Reading: May 12

5th Grade-

Math: May 10

Reading: May 12

Science: May 17

For 5th grade students, the state of Texas issued House Bill 4545 and removed promotion/retention requirements and removed retesting requirements. There will only be one administration for 5th grade math and reading STAAR tests.

ANY student 3rd-5th grade who does not meet the passing standard or does not take the STAAR assessment must be provided intervention the following school year (30 hours per content area).

There is NO "OPT OUT" provided by TEA. Students who do not test must be included in HB 4545 tutoring and remediation activities.

We DO have school on Monday, April 18th

We previously had this day as a bad-weather make-up day, but due to the storms in February, we will be in school to make up the day we missed. Thank you for your understanding!

We will also have FULL DAYS on Wednesday, May 11 and Wednesday, May 18 to make up more time due to weather.

PHE PK & Kindergarten: ENROLL in Leander ISD!

In order for us to have the appropriate number of staff members for next year in PK and Kindergarten...we need your student enrolled ASAP! When we get late enrollment, it delays being able to hire enough teachers to support our students and may cause classes to be split after school starts. We do not want that either...so please get your student enrolled as soon as possible. Please share this information with anyone you know who has an incoming PK or Kindergarten student.

Go to this site to start the registration process (it is all online). You will click on the appropriate grade level on the left-hand side and follow the process. For all NEW students, you will need the following items to register: birth certificate, social security card (if available), proof of residency, photo identification (of parent or guardian), and vaccinations to be shared with Nurse Heidi.

Reminder:

If your child is currently enrolled at PHE, you do NOT have to register them again. Only students who have not been enrolled this school year need to fill out the forms.

Have questions? Please email Amber Tatum, our amazing registrar here at PHE.

Have you ordered your PHE yearbook yet?

Help! Do you know a senior who went to PHE?

We will be hosting our annual Senior Walk on Wednesday, May 25th at 1:00 PM for students who are graduating high school and attended PHE. Seniors will arrive at PHE by 12:30 PM that day and parade the halls in their cap and gowns at 1:00 PM. All are WELCOME!

PHE Field Day was a HUGE success, COLD but successful!

Thank you to all of our volunteers and Coach Tweed for making it happen! The kids had an amazing time (even indoors).
