ALiCE Student Training
As a follow-up to the Parent Safety Meeting on Tuesday September 24th, students will begin school-based safety training. Training will utilize a book by Julia Cook called "I’m Not Scared, I’m Prepared". It is a student friendly, age appropriate book using the idea of a shepherd, sheep and a wolf to explain how to respond in an emergency situation. The primary focus is for the students to follow the direction of their teacher.
Students in Kindergarten and 2nd grade will begin the training on Thursday October 24th. Their training will be facilitated by our New Britton Resource Officer. 1st, 3rd and 4th grades will receive training throughout the month of October. Their training will be in the form of a podcast with content coming from the above book. Thank you for partnering with us in educating your students!

Safety Spotlight
*Please take time to review the Safety Levels poster (pictured right). Our staff and students are trained on these levels and we want our families informed as well. It is important for HSE families to know the difference between the levels from heightened awareness, shelter in place (we practice this monthly with our fire drill- pause, be alert and aware for 90 secs prior to evacuation) and finally the lockdown.
*We request that visitors do not hold open doors for others at the building level. Please allow visitors to utilize the protocols in place for each building by buzzing in and identifying themselves/showing ID. We appreciate your respect for the safety protocols we have in place to protect your children.
