No School February 15th-19th (Winter Break)
In-Person Learning Begins Monday, February 22nd for TK-2nd Grade Students
Update on Reopening Plans (3rd-5th Grade)
Thank you to our 3rd-5th grade families for filling out the parent survey. We are currently sorting through the data and are working on classroom configurations. You will receive a notification sometime during the week of March 1st regarding your child's placement.
As a reminder:
Safety protocols: Union School District is in alignment with Santa Clara County Health Department and California Safe Schools for All guidelines for returning students to in-person instruction. Our approved safety protocols include daily home health screens, mask requirements for all students and staff, physical distancing, campus cleaning, and disinfecting protocols, as well as other measures while on school campuses.
Classroom Capacity: To ensure the necessary space for physical distancing in classrooms, in-person classroom capacity will be restricted per state and county requirements. Cohort sizes may be adjusted downward when the available classroom has less space than the standard.
Teacher/Class assignments: Every effort will be made to keep students with their currently assigned teacher, however, there may be assignment changes based on how many students choose to remain in distance learning instruction as well as the number of staff able to return.
Placement priority: Our priority is to keep students with their current teacher(s) whenever
possible. When we cannot accommodate all students in a particular class, students in these categories will be prioritized:
- An Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Struggled with attendance during distance learning
- Struggled academically with multiple failing grades or a need for additional intervention supports
- English language learners, low socio-economic status, homeless or foster youth
Sibling Schedules: Every effort will be made to keep siblings on the same schedule. Should you have additional scheduling concerns, please contact me directly.
Entry and Exit Gates
Oster now has six different drop-off and pick-up locations (map attached below). If you have more than one child and would like to drop them off and pick them up from one location, please contact me so that we can decide which location would be best and the paths that your children should take to their classrooms. Children will not be lining up. They will walk directly from their drop off location to their classroom and enter the room when they get there. However, during the first week of in-person learning, teachers will be out on the blacktop, ready to receive their students and show them their classroom location.
Another reminder that parents will not be allowed on campus when students return.
Wednesday's Games and Activity Club Returns (Grades 3-5)
I am excited to share that Wednesday's Games and Activity Club is back by popular demand. However, it was challenging to get staffing for this session. Many previous activity leaders were unavailable, so at this time, we can only offer one session to students in grades 3-5 only. Spaces will be on a first-come, first-serve basis with very limited space.
The Games & Activities Club will be held on the following dates:
Wednesday, March 3rd from 12:30-1:30
Wednesday, March 10th from 12:30-1:30
Wednesday, March 17th from 12:30-1:30
Wednesday, March 24th from 12:30-1:30
Potential Rainout day: Wednesday, March 31st from 12:30-1:30
