Mission Maximize!
LVJHS Weekly Bulletin 4/11/2016
Dear LVJHS Family,
The busy time of year is officially here! Outside of the regular school day, this week our students participated in the following activities: 8th grade college trip to Texas State University; a track duel with Navarro Middle School; La Vernia High School College Fair; and, presentations for high school agricultural courses. Having the chance to watch our kids participate at the track meet was lots of fun. I was also impressed with how many of our students not participating in track were volunteering to help work the event. One young man told me: "I am here to help and be a good team mate." This demonstrates the quality of students we serve.
As the year progresses, the frequency of activities will increase. In less than two months, our eighth grade students will be freshmen on the high school campus, and our fifth grade students will join our campus as sixth grade students. Despite the business of this time of the year, it is important to remember we only get to make a difference in our students' lives for a limited time, and we should always make the most of the opportunity to do so.
Thank you all for making LVJHS a great place for students!

Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Mondragon!
We are proud to announce Mrs. Mondragon as our spotlight staff member for the week! From Benchmarks to testing, alongside her many other responsibilities on campus, she has truly demonstrated an incredible amount of commitment and success! Because of her organization, thorough planning, and precise follow-through, our first round of testing was absolutely flawless! Additionally, Mrs. Mondragon continues to devote her time and expertise to our students on campus. She has volunteered to serve on various committees, coached a UIL Team, and creatively plans and shares wonderful ideas for our Junior High campus! Thank you Mrs. Mondragon for all that you do!
Fundamental Five Focus...
Giving students an opportunity to process their learning in writing helps with later recall. Use the Fundamental 5 visual cues poster as a reminder to stop at least twice each class period allowing students to respond to a prompt. Critical Writing does not take long to do, but the benefits are BIG!
