Teacher Appreciation

The first full week of May is Teacher Appreciation Week. CA would like to express our deep gratitude to our teachers for the work they do each day to ensure the success of all our students!! Our teachers provide the high-quality instruction and support that our students need for success, and they keep them engaged and on track. Our teachers have gone above and beyond to quickly learn and adapt to distance learning, and the return to in person learning. Many of them have found creative and caring ways to stay connected to students, extending a kindness and respect beyond our buildings and into our students’ homes. But we all know teachers do so much more, and they have done so while also tending to their own children and families. We can all look back and remember a great teacher who touched our lives. Thank you Central Avenue teachers for the tremendous love and care you bring to the classroom each and every day (both virtually and in person)! Your kindness, perseverance, poise, quiet gestures and high standards make Central Avenue what it is today! You are all truly amazing!! With that in mind, Please be sure to thank our teachers and celebrate them this week and beyond for ALL they do for Central Avenue!!

Health Professionals

The second full week of May is Health Professionals Week! School nurses are an integral part of school, they are often the first place a student thinks to go when they don’t feel well or have been hurt. They provide more than bandaids for scrapes on the playground. School nurses are first responders for all medical concerns! Here at Central Avenue, we are so thankful for Nurse Tami, always going above and beyond to keep our children safe and comfortable, she is basically a superhero in scrubs! From ensuring students and families have the medication, immunizations, and resources they need to stay healthy and continue learning. She is also working to update policies and procedures to adapt to new and emerging health concerns and ensure all students and educators are safe while in person learning, this includes screening, recovery, social distancing, cleaning, and so much more! School nurses are a calming force, they're a safe person for children to approach with concerns related to everything from mental health to stomach aches, and now pandemics. Thank you to all the school nurses out there for all they're doing to keep students and the community healthy. Please take a moment to thank Nurse Tami for being so amazing! Our team appreciates all that you do.

Administrative Professionals

The last week of April was Administrative Professionals Week! We appreciate the many hard-working Secretarial and Clerical staff throughout the FP School District We are so fortunate to have such an outstanding office team here at CA. From navigating the uncertainty of the pandemic to moving into our temporary home to welcoming students back in phases; Mrs. Ginny and Mrs. Brown have handled every situation with efficiency, grace, and often, humor! They are on the front lines making sure that students, parents, and staff have everything they need virtually and in-person on a daily basis. Their sunny disposition and helpful nature contribute to a welcoming school-environment. Please join me in thanking them for ALL they do for Central Avenue!!

Treats and Snacks

Please remember that any treats or snacks sent to school must be individual store-bought items in order to share them with the class. This is especially important during this time of COVID.

Boundary Review Information Night

Franklin Pierce Schools is in the process of reevaluating school boundary lines in order to even out enrollment levels and plan for future residential development in the area. This Spring, a Boundary Review Committee consisting of FPS families, community members and staff are looking at information about school enrollments, local population studies and new/anticipated building permits to make a recommendation to the Superintendent and School Board about new school boundary lines. The committee will be refining the best options over the next 8 weeks and welcomes you to attend a VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE this Thursday, May 6 at 6:00pm, 6:45pm or 7:30pm to share more about the process, learn more about your ideas and concerns, and gather ideas about how to improve the options going forward. We hope that you will consider joining us! To learn more and to sign up, visit www.fpschools.org/openhouse. If you have questions, please email info@fpschools.org or call (253)298-3000.

2021-2022 Enrollment

We are currently registering new kindergarten through grade 5 students who live within our attendance boundaries or have daycare in our area. If you live outside of the Franklin Pierce Schools boundaries, and attend Central Avenue because of daycare, a district waiver form is needed from your home resident school district. Current students are automatically enrolled for next year. Enrollees must provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years of age by August 31, 2021. On-line registration is available on the district website. Click on the "Enroll for 2021-2022" button, and follow the steps.
