Library Mission
The mission of the State Agency School Libraries which I serve is to provide students with the necessary tools to gain knowledge, skills, and dispositions for learning through access to educational and recreational resources. The overarching goal is to foster lifelong readers and learners.
Collection Development
- Titlewave Collection Analysis of collections at all locations.
- Selected and ordered 219 new culturally diverse titles for HOTI. (see diversity breakdown below)
- Selected and ordered approx. 2500 books to replace KMI library collection. (see diversity breakdown below)
- Selected and ordered approx. 2500 books to restart library at Boys & Girls Haven. (see diversity breakdown below)
- Weeded the collection at Peace Academy.

Collaboration
- Joined classes virtually throughout NTI and taught lessons on how to access and use the library's LibGuide and GALE resources at Brooklawn and HOTI.
- Taught classes how to cite evidence when supporting a claim.
- Put together lesson on preparing Backpack Defenses and taught classes virtually at Brooklawn.
- Worked with students at Brooklawn in preparing Backpack Defenses and served as a panelist during 8th grade presentations.
We exceeded out Gale usage goal at Brooklawn by 507 sessions!
Students at Brooklawn utilized the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) more this year during NTI than in years past.
Resource Provision
- Started State Agency Library News, a newsletter containing information and resources that I curated and sent out to teachers and staff at 7 State Agency Schools. All 8 issues can be accessed through the Teacher Resource tab on any of my six Libguides.
- Created and shared virtual instructional resources (ie. fiction and nonfiction choice boards, interactive virtual dictionary, creative writing prompts, Notable Women Research Project)
- Provided paper copies of class sets of books for teachers at HOTI, Boys & Girls Haven, and Brooklawn to use with students throughout the year.
Reading Promotion
- Held RIF at KMI, Brooklawn, and HOTI where students were allowed to choose two books to keep.
- Taught students how to access eBooks through the Libguide.
- Set student's at HOTI up with digital LFPL accounts, taught them how to request books, and delivered books back and forth during NTI.
- October and February Virtual Libraries, Celebrating Black Voices, Veterans Day
- Read Alouds - The Lorax, We Are Water Protectors, What Makes Us Unique, and Inky the Octopus
RIF
RIF books taken to HOTI, KMI, and Brooklawn.
Class Sets
Class sets of books donated by Mrs. Wynn, the librarian at Olmsted Academy North.
Special Delivery
Class sets checked out, packed up, and delivered.
Professional Development
Assisted teachers with technology early on during NTI. (ie. Google Classroom, Google Slides, Screencastify, etc.)

Goals for 2021-2022
- Continue to find creative ways to promote reading.
- Continue to update and promote use of the Libguides.
- Continue to build relationships with my colleagues to foster more collaboration opportunities.
- Continue to send out State Agency Library News.
- Purchase more culturally diverse titles for Brooklawn, Louisville Day, and Peace Academy.
- Work toward meeting the Collection Age Standard as set by JCPS, in all of my collections.
- Weed the collection at Louisville Day.
- Inventory collections at Brooklawn, HOTI and Louisville Day and Peace Academy.
