It's Teacher Appreciate Week!

We love our teachers and hope you will join us in celebrating their dedication to our students and passion for teaching our young people.

May Is Mental Health Month

The West Mental Health Connections group would like all students and staff to participate in wearing green on Mondays to raise awareness and support for Mental Health. Every Monday in the office show your green and get your name put in for a drawing for a gift card, t-shirt and other fun prizes!

Help us shape the future of Mankato Area Public Schools!

The school district is beginning a strategic planning process, and we want to include your voice and perspective. Please join us for a guided conversation about the Desired Daily Experience we have for our students, staff, parents and the community. The information collected from partners will be used to craft a future-focused direction for all our schools. Please join us!

Please join for one of these sessions:

May 10th at 6:00pm - District Office - Mankato Room

May 11th at 5:30 - Virtual Session

If you have any questions, please contact Becky Bailey at 387-1868.

Survey

Last week you received information on satisfaction survey. If you have not yet submitted your survey, you may complete the family survey online until May 17th by visiting the website https://surveys.panoramaed.com/mankato/8787549524/surveys and choose your school location.

We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses.

Safety Update

We are regularly reviewing our safety procedures and practices, and after the incident last week where a student was found to have a gun at school, we are making some additions to our safety practices.

We have increased supervision of our halls and doors. By changing an assignment for a support staff member to be one who is walking the halls and monitoring the exterior doors. We also have an increased adult presence in the halls.

This summer, our district will be training staff on new safety procedures.

A secured entrance is a top priority, and will be included in the referendum next fall.

Grade Check #5

The last grade check of the semester is Monday, May 15th. Please check your student's grades on Monday as they will be up to date. Think of those grades as "if the semester ended today" this would be the final grade.

Awards Asembly

On Tuesday, May 23rd, we will be having our Awards Assembly at 9:30am in the auditorium. Students who have received awards in academics, activities, and athletics will be recognized during this all school assembly. Also, seniors who are receiving scholarships will be recognized. While many of the awards are for seniors, this is a great opportunity for our under classmen to see all of the opportunities they have in high school.

End of the Year

June 6th and June 7th

The last two days of the semester we will be running a different schedule to allow students who are in danger of failing one last opportunity to show what they know. We will be running 80 minute periods, with hours 1-4 on June 6th and hours 5-7 on June 7th. All students are welcome to come to school on these days, but students who are failing are the students who are required to attend.

Chromebook Collection

Students must turn in their chromebook at the end of the school year. Students can drop off their chromebook between 8:15am - 3:45pm in the Media Center beginning Monday, June 5th through Wednesday, June 7th.

Senior Lunch Account

Parents have three options for handling any remaining lunch balance after graduation:

  1. Transfer balance to a younger sibling in your household.

  2. Request a refund check, only if the balance is $5.00 or more.

  3. Donate the balance to the Angel Fund.

Requests can be submitted by clicking on this link: https://forms.gle/hyGt8yaFePXdNvJy6

Please make sure to end any automatic payments in Infinite Campus before requesting a refund.

If your student has a negative lunch balance, we encourage you to pay off that balance prior to graduation. Any negative balances that are not paid by the end of the school year will be submitted to collections. Please note there will be additional fees assigned on this debt once it is sent to the collection agency.
