We Invite You To... Define 109

Define 109

YOU are an essential part of this process!

Join us on our journey to Define 109 as we work to revitalize our mission and vision for Deerfield Public Schools District 109, and ultimately, develop a strategic plan to get us there.

We will be offering feedback opportunities for students, staff, and both virtual and in-person for our community at large. See below for times for the community sessions:

Thursday 10/21 - 7-8 p.m. via Zoom

Wednesday 10/27 - 9-10 am at District Office

Wednesday 10/27 - 1-2 pm at District Office

Wednesday 10/27 - 7-8 p.m. at District Office

Staff sessions will be held at each building after school between October 18th and 28th. Staff will receive a separate email tomorrow (10/6) with sign-up information.

You can sign up and find more information at www.dps109.org/Define109. There's also a video introducing you to members of our Define 109 team, as we are partnering with Eklund Consulting in this process.

If those times or dates don't work for you, don't worry! We will be utilizing ThoughtExchange a bit later in the process to allow everyone an opportunity to give feedback on a draft of our mission and vision.

A TikTok Challenge Warning

There are a series of nationwide TikTok challenges set for the coming months that are encouraging destructive and deeply inappropriate behavior in schools. DPS 109 will not tolerate any disruptions to our learning environment.

While students may believe they are playing a prank or answering a challenge, it is important to know that these behaviors are actually very serious in nature and could result in school consequences including potential involvement by law enforcement.

We will not tolerate these behaviors in our school, and encourage parents/guardians to speak with their child about this. We thank you for your ongoing partnership in keeping DPS 109 a safe and supportive learning environment.

10 Days To Get Your Health Forms In!

If you have not submitted the required documentation for your child, the state of Illinois says you must do so by October 15!

Here's a breakdown of what is required: https://www.dps109.org/Page/645

If you have any questions, contact your school's nurse. Contact info for all of them is in the above link.

Board Briefs

We know you can get too much email from us sometimes, so we tried something different and didn't send you a separate email containing the Board Briefs from the September meeting. They were available online the day after the meeting, as they typically are. We will continue this practice moving forward.
