Meet Paul
Please make sure your school staff is fully aware of these new and exciting changes in our new delivery system, the new form needed (see below) to schedule a pick-up, and designated drop off location is your school.
We welcome feedback to help us better serve you. Any comments, issues or helpful suggestions can be made to: idc-questions@dcsdk12.org.
The DCSD IDC Driver Request Form
Click here to request Paul to pick-up a media item.
In efforts to streamline our delivery service to the schools, our new driver, Paul, will only be stopping at schools on their delivery days when there is either a delivery to drop off, or if a pick-up has been scheduled. Paul is only delivering items from the Innovation & Design Center and transferring the school-to-school book loans (ILL) when they are in a blue bag.
To have Paul visit your school to return an item back to IDC, simply fill out the form, by clicking the above link, and indicate how many items Paul will be getting from you. This allows Paul to prepare his van for space and his route of travel. Requests need to be made 2 days before your scheduled delivery day.
Eliminating Lost Items
When you schedule a pick-up, Paul does not need to sign a document unless you have created an internal form. Our pick-up form is documentation enough from IDC for our tracking purposes. Of course, you are welcome to create your own internal document for your records and Paul will gladly sign it.
FAQ's
We believe that in a short time, everyone will be comfortable and enjoying our new system!
New Novel Adoptions in Progress
Novels approved must be approved by the Board of Education to be read by an entire class. Each novel must be read and reviewed by a team to evaluate the content for approval by the curriculum and instruction department before going to The Board of Education. The grade level is determined in this process for how the content can best connect with the student for meaningful and relevant knowledge.
Novel adoptions are only made by the Board of Education twice a year. These 6 titles must be submitted no later than March 15th for consideration at the April board meeting. Our selected title finalists are:
- Crenshaw, by Katherine Applegate
- Counting by 7's, by Holly Goldberg Sloan
- Ellie's Story, by W. Bruce Cameron
- Faceless, by Alyssa Sheinmel
- Parallel Journeys, by Eleanor Ayer
- Paperboy, by Vince Vawter

High Schools in Douglas County participate in Battle of the Books
The High School Teacher - Librarians in DCSD sponsored a Battle of the Books Competition for students. Seventy-five students from across the district participated in the competition with the students from Legend High School, coached by Carrie Denman taking the trophy for the day. Breanne Frank, a student from Legend reflected on the day, ""I had a lot of fun making my team's shirts with Emma and reading all the different books and whatnot... You're there because you love reading and because a hundred other kids love reading and you were all crazy enough to sign up for this...We really just had a lot of fun being supportive of one another.... It was just a really positive atmosphere and the day went by really quickly because of it."
You can find out more about this successful day at this link: https://sites.google.com/dcsdk12.org/hs-battle-of-the-books/home. It was a fun day for all who participated.
