The Weekly Word from CDS FP - Mar 5 - Mar 23, 2018
Looking Back
Looking Back:
- We started the month with our term 3 assembly. The grade three students performed their skipping routine with a special light show. Percussion club wowed us with their performance of That Guy Next to Me. G1s performed a dance that had been taught to them by a high school student as part of her senior project. And the G2s performed their play, Cinderlla Big Foot.
Our JeoparBee winners were recognized for their achievement:
Grade 4 - played individually; three round one games; two winners from each round one game went on to the final; Yunhao won the G4 final
2700 Yunhao
Grade 3 - also played round 1 games where winners went on to a final; Siwon won for G3s
1600 Siwon
Grade 2 - played individually; only played round one games, so they had one leader from each of those:
2600 Jiho
4000 Chaeri
5100 Jaehee
Grade 1 - played in teams; Ella and Owen collaborated to take the win
2100 Owen & Ella
Kindergarten - played in teams; Mary Yousif and Sasha together won in K
2900 Mary & Yousif & Sasha
Pre-Kindergarten - played individually (there are only 5 students!); Kalin and Asher tied for the win!
2300 Kalin & Asher

- The FP floor hockey teams attended a clinic and games at CI with Ms. Menzel and Mr. Hill
- The Book Fair was an awesome success. Thanks to the PTA for the wonderful snacks provided. The snack store is always a special treat that the kids really look forward to.
- FPTV students kicked things off with school announcements over the PA system. They shared Book Week trivia, facts, events, and quotes throughout the week and did a fantastic job. Thank you to Ms. Kang and Ms. Menzel for leading the students in this.
- Global Readers - we had an excellent turnout by both parents and teachers. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and made the day so great.
- Book Buddies - thanks again to families who lent us pets for the morning. Students loved reading to their animal buddies!
- Book Character Day - congrats to everyone on showing so much support and enthusiasm and dressing up in such thoughtful costumes.
- Bryn Barnard visited us on Thursday. It was a full day: Mr. Barnard addressed the whole FP in the library telling us about how he became and author and illustrator and what it is really like to do that as a career - very interesting. He met with three smaller groups: PK K, 1 2, and 3 4. That was followed with a book signing, and in the evening he had his family presentation. Thank you to all the parents and students who joined for that special activity.
- Mr. Baker's Book Swap - this would not be possible without the great participation of so many. As a result, students throughout the school went home with many books that were new to them!
- Great big thank you to our FP Librarian, Ms. Choo for planning such a successful Book Week - way to go, Ms. Choo!
- We finished off the month of March with Uniform Free Fridays and Birthday celebrations.
