Kindergarten Enrollment 2023-24
Is your student starting kindergarten this fall?
To enter kindergarten, your student must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2023. Kindergarten enrollment for the 23-24 school year is now open. Not sure which school your student will attend? Enter your address in our school finder.
Before school begins, kindergarten teachers will meet with families to get to know the students, their families, and their stories. Additionally, teachers evaluate students in many areas to determine students' strengths. This helps teachers plan a program based on the needs of the children. Stay tuned for more information!
Highly Capable Process for Kindergarten
The kindergarten eligibility process incorporates two different screening tools. Parents and teachers do not nominate or register students. All kindergarten students will be automatically screened for potential highly capable eligibility. Visit the Highly Capable Services page for more information.

Accessible Parking Spaces
It has recently been brought to our attention that our handicap accessible parking spaces are being used illegally for after-school pickups.
There are times when a parent, grandparent or guardian with limited mobility is picking up their student and cannot find a place to park. Let's show our handicapable community that we care by reserving these spots for families who are authorized to use them!
Thank you for your cooperation!
Girls on the Run
Hello 3rd - 5th grade girls* and families!
The Girls on the Run coaches are so excited to bring this fantastic program to Canyon Creek this year. Girls on the Run is a program that inspires girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths all while building a sense of connection in a team setting.
*At Girls on the Run, “girls” is used as a gender-expansive term to embrace any and all girl-identified youth, including, but not limited to, trans girls, cis girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth and any girl-identifying youth.
This ten-week program starts the week of March 13 and goes through the week of May 26. The program ends with a community 5k run with all the other local Girls on the Run teams. It is such a fun and positive experience, we hope you'll consider joining!
Registration is now open! REGISTER HERE. Space is limited, so please don't wait.
Practices will be held on campus before school from 7:45-9:10am, Mondays and Wednesdays.

CANYON CREEK REMINDERS
Attendance
Attendance Line + Email
When your child will be absent or tardy, please email ccattendance@nsd.org and CC your student’s teacher OR leave a message on our 24-hour phone line at 425-408-5710 by 9:50am. If the absence is reported after 9:50am, you may receive an automated call.
If you are concerned that your student's absences have not been updated, please email ccattendance@nsd.org requesting confirmation.
Student Drop-Off
Students should be dropped off no earlier than 9:00am when campus supervision begins and picked up no later than 3:45pm at the end of the day.
Early Pick-Up
If your child will be leaving early for the day, families/guardians will need to send a note, email both the teacher and ccattendance@nsd.org, or call the office on the main line at 425-408-5700. Please do not leave a message on the attendance line. Please avoid picking up during their scheduled lunch, recess or specialist time. It can be especially difficult to find students on the playground and in the cafeteria.
Only an authorized person may take a child from school. Any student being dismissed prior to the regular dismissal time must be met in the office, where the student must be signed out by the parent/guardian or authorized person. Families are not permitted to walk directly to classrooms.
Change in After School Plan
If there is a change in your child’s after school plan or how they will be getting home, parents/guardians must send a note or email your student’s teacher and ccattendance@nsd.org before school starts. If a change is needed after the start of school, please call our main office line at 425-408-5700 to ensure that we get the message to your student and their teacher in time for dismissal. Please do not leave a message on the attendance line.
Pre-Arranged Absences
In the event that your child will miss more than two consecutive school days for a reason other than health or medical issues, complete and submit the Pre-Approved Absence Request Google Form at least one week before the first planned day of absence. Access the form here!
Drop Off/Pick Up
Please be sure your student is at Canyon Creek at 9am and you are here to pick them up by 3:45pm.
Safety Reminder:
We ask parents to please do your part! Please obey traffic rules, be courteous of neighbors, do not park illegally, and stay alert for young people walking to and from school. If school busing is available in your neighborhood, please consider sending your student to and from school on the bus to reduce congestion.
Here are a few reminders to ensure we can safely get students to and from school:
DO NOT drop students off in the bus loop (staff parking lot).
If you are a walker, please do NOT use the crosswalk in front of the entrance to Canyon Creek/Skyview on 35th. People who use the crosswalk stop traffic from leaving or entering our campus, creating a massive car pile up.
If you are a walker from the North side of CC, use the entrance near the 3rd grade portables.
If you are a walker from the East/South side of CC, use the walkway through the baseball field at Canyon Creek and the crosswalk near the gate entrance of Skyview.
If your student can ride the bus, please have them use this form of transportation to get to CC.
If you are a walker and it rains, continue to walk to school. If walkers decide to drive to school due to weather, the back-up for drop-off and pick-up will more than double.
Do not drop your student off in the parking lot and have them walk alone.
Volunteers
All volunteers in the Northshore School District are required to complete a volunteer application and background check online. Volunteers will need to complete the application once a year.
Volunteers can learn more and complete an online application here.
Lost and Found
Please remember to print your child’s name in their lunch box, jackets, coats, and sweatshirts. We will return lost items to students if their names are in them.
Students can look for their lost items on the hooks in the hallways between the gym/cafeteria and restroom hallways. Any items remaining on the last day of school before summer break will be donated.
