Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry
Pre-Algebra students worked in Module 8, "Linear Relationships and Slope". There will be a quiz on lessons 8-1 to 8-4 this coming Wednesday. Please continue to check Skyward and make sure your student is keeping up on their daily work. Thank you and have a great weekend!

ELA
Students finished reading Romeo and Juliet this week and took their Act 5 quiz. Next week, they will begin their final “exam” for this unit. The exam will feature two long response questions that students will have to answer using textual evidence to show mastery of our skills worked on throughout this unit and their comprehension of the play.

World History
Journal entries 6 and 7 are due this week. The journal completed in it’s entirety is due next Friday, March 1. Please check in with your student and have them show you what they have been creating. The journals are looking fantastic!
We will be wrapping up our WWI unit this week and next week we will begin our World Between Wars unit. After we return from Spring Break, we will begin WWII.

Electives
Culinary
We are approaching the end of our Culinary Application Unit! Students will be tested on their kitchen skills and Mise en Place Planning abilities over the next two weeks. As the unit comes to a close, we will being our Baking and Pastry Arts Unit. This tends to be a favorite for most students. Looking forward to fun labs including homemade pie, cake construction and decoration, and many others. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. - Kaylie Cox
PE
All is well in PE. We have finished our Gaga Ball unit. Now that basketball has come to an end, we will begin our racket units. Next week, we will begin a table tennis unit, as well as continued work in the weight room. We look forward to another great week.

Spanish
4A in Savvas
4th Hour: Los Pasatiempos is the name of this chapter. We are working on stating locations, using the verb “ir” (to go) and continuing to build structures while using question words correctly.
8th Hour: Recuerdos del pasado y Cuando éramos niños
We are learning to use the imperfect verb tense while building our vocabulary and using indirect object pronouns correctly.
Each of these classes have two Señor Wooly videos assignments (nuggets 1-6 each )to go before this quarter ends on March 8th: “Diego y Sus Amigos” & “El Antídoto del Dragón.”
NOTE: Please remind your son or daughter to stay up to date on his or her work for Spanish. There will be no extensions given for missing work.
Art
All artists have been developing their entries for the Doodle for Google contest. The theme is “My Wish for the Next 25 Years,” and students are coming up with some hopeful and exciting ideas. We will be starting our spring clay projects shortly.
Please be sure to congratulate sixth grade artists Harper Woolford and Gracie Highsmith. They are winners in the University of St. Mary’s 2024 Abraham Lincoln Portrait Contest for Best Portrait and Most Original Portrait. Over 200 artworks from area schools were entered into the contest.
Drama
Drama 8/9 – The show dates are set as we anticipate the upcoming Dr. Seuss performances. The cast will perform a daytime show for each elementary school. Then, on March 6th, the show comes to primetime with a 7:00 performance for families and friends.

Broadcast Tech
We’ll be continuing to produce the Patton Roar. Watch the Patton Roar here. The students will learn about the B-Roll and editing their Angles Away project using I-Movie.
Engineering Essentials
The students will perform an experiment to collect and analyze data to draw conclusions.Then, they will organize and present data using a spreadsheet application and calculate circuit resistance, current, and voltage within a circuit. Finally, they will develop a mathematical model to describe the relationship among resistance, current, and voltage within a circuit.
