YEARBOOK ORDERS
The deadline to order a yearbook online is this Sunday May 31st. The yearbooks are done and were expected to ship to FWS in early May. However, due to COVID-19 there will be a delay as a result of closed printing plants. It is now expected that the yearbooks will ship to FWS in mid/late June. Once we receive them, we will let parents know the pick up process from school.
SCHOOL NEWS
LIBRARY BINGO
Library BINGO will be wrapping up on May 31st. Students who wish to complete any of the BINGO cards should turn them in by the end of the day on May 31st.
Students who are looking for ideas on what to read next can keep an eye on our library blog. We regularly post video book talks and trailers there to give FWS students ideas. All the book talks and book trailers we share are for books that can be accessed through the schools' MackinVIA collection (accessible in LCPS GO) or available with a public library card through Loudoun County Public Library's digital resources.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a groundbreaking and exciting after school program that transforms local middle and high school students into real, confident entrepreneurs. Through the 7-month program, students in grades 6-12 generate business ideas, conduct market research, write business plans, pitch to a panel of investors (think Shark Tank), and launch their very own real companies.
YEA! is presented by the Loudoun Chamber Foundation and the Loudoun Economic Development Authority. Applications are currently being accepted through June 12th. If your student is interested in participating in YEA's upcoming Class of 2021, please review YEA's website for more details.
The Youth and Parent Summit is an event held each June and sponsored by the Virginia DOE and the Partnership for People with Disabilities. The event will be held online this year from June 8th - 12th and is free and open to everyone. The Youth Sessions are created for youth 13-21 years old and the parent sessions are created for parents, but all of the information is open to anyone. Check out the Virtual Summit for more details.

High School Courses Taken in Middle School
A middle school student who has taken a high school course while in 6th-8th grade (such as Algebra I, Geometry, Robotics or a world language) may elect to have the course expunged (grade and credit omitted) from the student's high school records. Strong consideration should be given for expunging low grades in credit-bearing courses. If you wish to expunge the grade for a high school course taken in middle school, click on the appropriate link below and fill out the form by August 15th.
Note that the decision to expunge a grade is irreversible and must be made prior to enrollment in high school.
